You don't need to change injectors though, given that the stock ones are still perfectly operational..... flowing ~ the same at 4bar as 440's at 3bar

JBS did say they won't sell the manifold on it's own - and only part of a fitted conversion - hopefully this has changed!

I think what I'd look at is Turbo, "any modified manifold", play with SPS3 - as long as a/f and maf / injector are all within an acceptable range.

As mork said no point geing 440 when the std injectors flow the same as 440cc at 4 bar.

The calculation for the is √(new pressure/old pressure) x flow rate.

Get the dahlback port matched to the head its not the best of fits. I have and its a flush fit now!

Sorry bill i odnt know what your asking.

I only say injectors as jabba sport told j@mes he would need them, but thinking about it he hasnt got a 4 bar fpr i dont think.

Looks like ai may invets in a ATP manifold, dod they do them for the LCR yet as ive lost the plot with whats going on with them!

How much did that set you back sie?

Dahlback manifold - £500
Remap - £500 (cant really keep a generic map on none generic lump?)
ATP manifold - £300
Fitting - £400

Sorry bill i odnt know what your asking.

just asking if your own question of should I go equal length (wait) or cast wotnot like ATP's is a function of how much airflow your new turbo is likely to produce. Equal length will outflow an ATP like manifold, but until there's sufficient flow for this to become a restriction, I question the worth of going equal length unless the turbo's flowrate justifies the "need" to.

My own equal length mani is not for 300bhp cars, its for 500bhp cars and the airflows they require.

hope that explains.

sounds like u have been a busy boy scott!

i dont have a 4bar fpr!

yep mike said to me if i got this hybrid turbo i would also need exhaust manifold and injectors to get the 320bhp out of the hybrid!

however the guys on here say our standard injectors are fine at 4 bar... which i am sure is correct, but that makes me think, why doesnt jabba fit a 4bar fpr for the IHI conversion?!

Ow i see bill, what flow rates should i be looking at? Ive come from old school fords where bolting an equal length manifold was the done thing and in teh real world i noticed a good improvment, at the time how ever i didnt really know as much about the systems so im just using my old idaes that equal length mani = a happy me!

I think tho that the gains for my application would out weigh the costs, so i will be oredring an atp mani tonight! Any one know which one i need?

Bit of bad news folks, ive been phoning around trying to get prices for fitting the turbo and prices vary from £200 to £500 (and all at named garages) Also after speaking to awesome (great customer service by the way) they informed me there’s an issue with getting hold of turbo bolts for our car, apparently there on back order at seat with expected delivery of December the 1st, so you know that means in the new year with seat. They have tried other version but apparently the seat bolt is a very specialised one and every substitute they have tried isn’t up to the job. I was hoping to have mine done and run in over crimbo but this may now not be the case

Seeing as awesome fitted sies turbo im tempted to get them to do mine done there. Don’t supposes anyone fancy’s a group fitting?! (when everything turns up!)

Trying to get hold of a ATP exhaust manifold or now even a nuespeed unit if anyone’s interested?

Also on another note after speaking to awesome today iam very excited on how this turbo is going to look and function! Ive kind of convinced myself its not going to be as good as I hoped but if only half of what they say is true then I will be over the moon!

Yes ill get mine fitted at awesome aswell buddy as like you said, they have already fitted 1 so they should know what they are doing and not over qoute on labour times!

How much did awesome quote for fitting Scotty?

Do we need new turbo bolts?

Ive been told running my 4bar fpr will be fine?

How much are bolts roughly?

They siad around 8hrs albour.

BBT wanted 10 hours, @ £50/hour +vat

Any news on gaskets etc?

running 380's at 4bar is plenty for 350bhp... so given that this turbo isn't "big" just improved you won't exceed their flow (I imagine)

I would encourage fitting a proper wideband lambda sensor though.

No Scotty, i think im just going to fit 4bar FPR to make the 380 injectors into 440cc. Think mark said they had a better spray pattern anyway:)

I just thought i read before that you were going to change injectors?

If thats what awesome are charging for fitting (£420 ish. 8 x £45+vat), i am going elsewhere or even attempt to fit it myself. Jabbas labour charges for fitting the whole IHI conversion is only around £450 so dont know how awesome are coming up with them charges for a simple turbo unit change:confused:

How did JBS pricing compare, they are normally quite good? Were certainly the cheapest out the bunch for my clutch change! I would go to jabba but peterborough is quite a bit away from me although i will go there in the end though for mapping if required.

Mark...Can you explain about the wideband lamda and why we would need it? Not too familiar with them and what they do?

You'll need the wide band lamda sensor to tell you the correct air to fuel ration. That will tell u whether your running lean or rich. Advisable if your keeping std software. :)

The wideband sensors can be pricey tho your talking bout 270ish.

On fitting i will probably put it on a RR and test Air/Fuel mixture as to make sure it isnt running lean! If it is then i'll be gentle with the throttle and go and get it mapped again pretty quickly.

£270 is pricey just to check air/fuel mixture when a RR can monitor it! I know awesome's dynojet can moniter air/fuel throughout entire rev range!

yes - it's attached to a wide band lambda.... it doesn't measure from the rollers :)

equally.... when you're driving along you can't drag the dyno about with you.

Lol :D true, but if its alright on the rollers then should be all right on road through the same rev range?

Im sure ive had air/fuel mixture read on both jabba and awesome dynos, by them shoving sensor up the exhaust pipe:)

Thats the long term plan i think.
Whats the part numbers for this new lambda so we can start looking on ebay!

Jbs wanted £211+vat i think but that was before james came off his bike

Looking at Sie's car you need to budget for some kind of boost controller, he's got a manual one (dunno if he's fitted it yet) to keep the boost in check.

LCR's already have a wide band lambda sensor IIRC, but obviously you'd need something to hook into it in order to give you a dashboard display of A/F. Unless you can watch vag-com to keep you happy  Would that not be enough?

Might be worth keeping the money from the improved manifold and spending it on a boost controller, especially if you can find one that does A/F as well?

When we've been looking round, nobody does a "better" exhaust manifold for the AMK/BAM. I've seen some extrude honed standard ones in the states, but never seen any figures.

Dahlback quote improvements for their manifold for 300bhp cars IIRC, but if it were me, I'd do the turbo first and make sure that's all running fine, then do the inlet later...

Scotty - I thought you didn't think this turbo would be worth it? No you're spending alsorts of money on various bits and bobs
