You have tax??? Legal to drive?? Thought you needed the VIC check first? Doesn't it need to be licensed and have an MOT?

As I thought I had ot fic my car, take it for the VIC check, get it MOT'd and sort the tax out and hte insurance.??

Does it work differently.?

And the VIC check is to check its ok to drive on the road, like the chassis isn't bent.

Sorry I'm a bit new to this so will need all the help I can get.

similar to the way I thought, to be honest,. but according to the man at VOSA ( part of DVLA) and my good man at the post office and various info I found on t'interweb ;) you CAN drive it as long as it passes an MOT , you can insure it, and as long as you have those two, and a 'new keepers' slip at least ( takes ages for the new owner doc. to come through from DVLA .. you CAN legally drive it! every thing is STILL ON RECORD at DVLA so they will know its been written off/ which category etc...

Oh,

I thought you had to get teh VIC check before the MOT!! lol

So I can fix it up, mot it, insure it and tax it? How did you tax it?

Then drive it and wait for the dvla to request a VIC check.

get the owners slip ..... get it insured.... get it mot'd.... go down to Post Ofice with relevant bits of paper - slips/certificates ( see above) ... they will scan bar code on owners slip or V5 whatever you have .. it should show that it needs VIC the DVLA wil sent you notification in due course for an appointment at your nearest VOSA centre :)

PROBLEM!!!!!!!

I don't have a new owners slip or logbook or anything as it was destroyed by the insurance company as it was written off.

I do have an application form for the VIC check though to send off when the car fixed and what not?

Can you help with this?

Got it figured :)

I can MOT it, and Insure it apply for the VIC test and drive it there. When it passes they give me a letter saying that I can apply for tax then i send of the form to the DVLA applying for a new logbook
