its got 35k on the clock prob been remapped for 25-30k of that.. ever since i got it mapped and its been ragged around then it smokes like a biatch. nothing to worry bout when u put the injector cleaner stuff in it.....

gonna try to get the guy to un map it tomorrow -

1, can seat tell that its been mapped ?
2, is it safe to drive it to this guys garage to get un mapped ?
3, would it be wise to give the seat recovery service a call, so i can get it picked up safely and without having to mess about... will i get curtesy car?
4, what happens if they find its been mapped, can they prove it ?
5, how much is a new turbo ? (local mechanic said about £300 ish ?)

1.) depends on dealer to wether they will care
2.) keep below 2 1/2 thousand revs
3.) could be an idea if really worried seat will bacically check all pipe work, then diagnosis if it is turbo
4.) would be timely and costly , be better for dealer to change turbo and get money of seat!
5.) i recon i saved £1,200 and alot of probs by getting seat to change turbo,, my one was 21,000 on clock and didn't have 20,000 service yet but still fixed it!

the guy has asked me to take the ecu off and drop it off to him to get it sorted as i dont think i can drive the car safely. he said its next to the battery - any ideas what it looks like ?? should i also disconnect the battery when the ecu has been removed?

I would not start dissconecting the engine ecu if i were you, if you do seat may start looking closer at your car. You may be causing yourself a large bill.

deffo sounds turbo to me matey.

That or you have alternator bearings gone or something? or a huge power drain so the alternator is working overtime!

p.s just pull battery negative off before unplugging ecu's, easy job then :) do it daily
