Its a good motor and they seem to be more reliable than the PD's, a local VAG specialist tells me they like to eat turbo's and gear boxes among other things.

I'll be going this route at some point, thinking along the lines of Tolly, Bora, Cordoba as you get far more toys on these than you do their hatchback brothers.

Fortunately my MK2 is stashed away so i'll always have a growling GTi to hop into when i feel the need for petrol powered fun.

Thanks paul, will have to ring around on Monday, much appreciated

You have to take the steering wheels off = airbag off, so need to disconnect battery m0rk

You don't..... fitted dozens - just pop the airbag out & disconnect it when it's not pointing at your face :)

learn something new everyday :D

all the guides even suggest taking battery off lol, sweet will do it next weekend :D
but need to find the code eitherway for future reference
thanks :)

a little mod today, picked up a mahusive nail in one my tyres, but was luckily it was only losing like 5psi every couple of hours, so got that replaced, and a rear too (was getting low) both part-worns, as the wheels are not gonna be on for much longer :)

If you read all the manuals they also tell you to disconnect the battery when you jack the car up too - I don't do that either :)

Bummer about the tyres though.

Update:

it hasn't been starting in the -5degrees at 5am in the morn recently, so all things pointed to glow plugs (as the light comes on when you turn the key before you start, and is meant to stay on until it heats up)
but mine comes on, then turns straight off

so changed them for some bosch ones today, was worried as I have never really done diesel engines before lol, but was piss-easy :D

will find out tomorrow morning if it has done the trick (as engine was still hot from commute back home) :)

Did the trick :)
Started on the button, old ones look well worn, good work imo and worth it in this weather :)
