Hope this is in the correct forum i was going to post this in the car and detailing forum but thought you guys would be more informed.

Im planning to Clean my engine bay at the weekend, Befor i drown my bay with water i wanted to check that the only think i have to cover is

1. The Alternator
2. Any Visible Wires/Electrics

Is there anything else i need to cover? Im positive i saw a post highlighting what areas to cover but i can't for the life of me find it.

Water wont do anything to your engine bay fella, you need to use degreaser as the surfaces will be virtually waterproofed from grease and road dirt.

to be honest mate a damp cloth will get rid of more loose debris than the hose will, regardless of how well you tae up the electrics, water will still get into some areas and onset rust.

Wont some parts start to rust if water as added!
In some place water can not escape causing it rust!
I just degrease it,
for the plastic bits and piping i use some black to black! looks like new!
i wouldnt neva jet wash,
May a steam cleaner on some areas

You can use vasoline for areas that you really don't want too wet. Might be worth removing the battery too, just to be safe and to get into other tighter areas :)
