Will a cone filter improve turbo noise ?

i've just changed the filter on my bocanegra to a pipercross cylindrical one. noticed a very slight change in induction noise, dumps slightly louder when you take your foot off the accelerator. if you want more noise i think the forge BOV is the best way to go...

Nice mate. Which one is it ? Any change in preformance ? I test drove the boc before I bought the FR. The dump valve sounded pretty gd as standard. But think your right bout the BOV.

not really anything you'd notice, does sound a bit louder under load mind you...

yeah it does sound quite nice standard, get a nice little whistle almost when you come off the gas!

yeah, think it's the route i'm going to go down

Ah okay I get you ! There all quite pricey arnt they ! Such a big air box tho its great. ITG do a cindrical panel filter its about £80 tho. There pretty much all the same so that may be a gd route to go down !

After giving it a good run to work today I'm actually starting to like it, It seems like its starting to get louder and performance seems to be still good so I'm gonna leave it on see how it goes

Something has adapted as when I first started it up it was revving over 1k revs and now it's back to normal. I will see what it's like over the next few days

Oh dear haha the high revving doesn't sound fun, think I'd panic that I've broken it ha ! Is the turbo sound getting better ?

And are the halfords ones good rob styler ?

Yer it's great, full stainless steel inc mesh so never rusts etc and only £35.
You'll have to make a bracket to hold it in place but makes a better sound as its not dampened, I also use a baileys dv30 dump valve, makes a much better noise than any forge inc the splitR one, great combo!

is the dump valve you're using a fully atmospheric one? as it really isn't good to be running one on a 1.8t. They're designed to hold their boost!

The bailey dv30 is atmospheric and as said here its not good to run these cars like this. They need to run with a diverter valve either the bailey or forge one. You will have lost a lot of power by having that dump valve on these engines don't like loss of boost.

Well I thought seems as though its not raining ill go and put the filter on. Not too impressed to be honest no extra grunt sound at all. You can here the turbo spinning when you let off but it's quiet so if your looking to do it I wouldn't bother. Maybe it might be better after a remap?

I got an induction kit for my 1.2tsi and I could notice the difference more of roar from the induction also sounds like you have a dump valve you can hear the pressure being let off
