probably wont stop pedestrians walking out in front of you, they don't seem to care if there's a car coming like they have a right to cross when ever and where ever they want!

Yes I know, but the amount of Audi's I see rolling around with idiots behind the wheel wanting some attention.... it just adds to it imo. Whatever the safety idea behind it, they look tacky.

I agree with you totally !

You will also notice these cars with DRL's, will come up quite quicky behind you and stick to your rear bumper while you are driving along just minding your own business. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE DESPERATE TO GET NOTICED..... NOW ALSO WITH THEIR TACKY DRL's!

BMW drivers are just as comical with their " Angel Eyes "!
Infact these tend not to be that bright at all, and actually you'd probably see the car coming at you before you see the car has Angel Eye headlights running.

I'm tempted to buy one of those LED screens like what the Police have in the rear window of their patrol cars... and flash up some message when said cars are driving behind me. :w4nk:

drls

Had a look at the law concerning these DRLs and it seems that they should come on with the ignition during the day BUT go off at night as they are illegal to use at night as they are too bright.

I've never seen them off on audis or mercs at night so how come they are allowed to be left on all the time?

OK rant over

Any chance you could quote the section of the law you are looking at so we could all comment?!

Cant bloody find it now but thhis is from halfords:

Daytime Running Lights UK Law & Regulations

A new daytime running lights law comes into force across Europe from February 2011. Read Halfords' handy guide for all you need to know about the daytime running lights law in the UK, and find out about how fitting daytime running lights could be a great way to upgrade your car.
Daytime Running Lights UK Law & Regulations
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS UK LAW

Daytime running lights (sometimes referred to as DRLs or daylight running lamps) are low-wattage bulbs that are fitted to a car to improve visibility during daylight hours. The new daytime running lights law* means that all new cars must be fitted with the lights from 7th February 2011.

will keep locking for main article

You may have already seen DRLs out on the road - many manufacturers such as Audi have already been fitting them to new models. They can usually be found just below the car's main headlights, and normally switch on with the vehicle ignition and off when the vehicle sidelights are turned on.
WHY IS THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS LAW BEING INTRODUCED?

The answer is simple - these lights improve road safety during daylight hours. The lighting makes cars more visible to pedestrians crossing the road, and to other motorists.

In fact, studies carried out by the European Commission and the Department for Transport have both found that daytime running lights can reduce accidents and casualties during daytime hours.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS REGULATIONS

New cars must be fitted with DRLs to comply with the daytime running lights law. However, many drivers have been fitting them to older cars to take advantage of their benefits. If you're going to do this, follow these simple guidelines:

* Make sure the lights comply with safety standards - the Ring Daytime Running Lights sold at Halfords are marked ECE R87 so you can be sure they're street legal
* Only use your DRLs during the day - they will dazzle other drivers at night
* Most DRLs automatically switch off when headlights are turned on. If yours don't, make sure you manually switch them off when it gets dark

Dont know. Has anybody got these yet?

If they dont a simple 5 pin relay would work connect feed to side lights and drls to pin 87a.

When sidelights come on drls go off.

Seat belts dont have to be retro fitted to old cars that never had them, but if they are, they must be worn.

I stand corrected. But it wouldnt suprise me if govment say all cars have to have it otherwise they are saying people who drive new cars are more accidents prone.

Though this is true for BMW drivers [:@] who think they own the road.
