where to get custom map

just be careful what 'custom' actually means.

for example, a generic map thats adjustable (eg revo using a sps) could be considered by some to be 'custom'.
If you plug a lap top in using vagcom or similair, take the car for a spin to see what your best settings are, timing boost etc... this is viewed by many as just setting up the map correctly, others may consider this as 'custom'.

One tuner may adjust any number of things, while another may only adjust 1 or 2...

personally i would have thought that a rolling road, or the ability to monitor and set up on the move is the minimum requirement to actually have a 'custom' code.

i agree with andy but a true custom map should take into account ALL the mods you have to make the most of em.

to clarify, i dont consider a generic map that has adjustablilty to be a custom map. However the adjustability is useful for relatively minor mods.

I have tried to explain that custom at one place may not be custom at another.
Custom codes that appear to be too good to be true, (or cheap) may give you an idea of how custom they are.
If it takes then 1 hour to do the job, then its going to be a tweaked generic at best.

I don't think I'd feel happy with a 'custom' mapper coming to my house, then ragging the car up & down the motorway all day long (breaking the speed limit every time)

I'll go out on a limb & claim "amateur hour" for any firm that does that.

apparently a custom re map done at ur house is better than a rolling road. they load on a base map then(u drive the car and not the mapper) you take it out doin various acceleration tests under load and tweek the boost, timing, etc till ur happy with the map. and because its been remapped under use you would usually give the car, on a road in normal driving conditions(not on a rolling road which ent normal conditions) its supposed to be even better!
