No I didn't take the tyres off because there 8.5's and there was a gap between rim and tyre so I could easily get to the parts I needed to repair and paint.........I could of quite easily taken them off becuse they do need changing but that would have meant paying the tyre man twice.......and I'm tight :D

I did these ones to on my old car to, from silver to white with a red pearl, these cost about £50 to do and didn't take to much longer.

They look great - its getting seriously more and more tempting as I look into people who have done this. Anyone any experience on using Motorbike wheel banding tape ?

Cheers! :D

Whats wheel banding tape?

Exactly as it sounds. We used to use it on my cousins motorcross bike.

I was thinking about getting some of the car ones but, they come as 4 parts and was worried about seeing any joins. Considering doing my wheels semi-gloss black with green bands around the lip. Im not too confident painting the bands so was thinking about trying the tape.

Oh I see! to be honest you could use fine line masking tape around the inner rim and paint them yourself, it shouldn't be to hard but you wouldn't get the effects they use on the vinyl :)

I thought about masking it off but, the lip has a smooth curve round. If it had been a sharp edge I would have no worries.

You can buy masking tape called 'fine line' you can curve this to most shapes unlike normal masking tape....although admittadly the stick on tape is going to be easier.

yes its getting very tempting i might have a go on my spare wheel my paint on mine is dull and flake not to many curbs to be fair apart from my spare so if i can get that right the others should be easy. a guide would be great and what every one has used (paint grade paper filler stuff like that). think those white whells look mint.

Ooooh just realised I have an odd steelie kicking about in the garden. I know its different but, might be worth having a mess about with before letting myself loose on my alloys. Im thinking its going to be less hassle to do it myself. Can put the car on axles in a neighbours drive for a few days and crack on. Hmmmm more and more appealing .....
