Whats the difference?

No Dont panic im not going to ask the age old question of:
"Whats the difference between a recirc dump vale and Blow off Valve?"

No its slightly different,

What is the difference between the dump valve (be it atmospheric or recirc) and the waste gate?
What does the Waste gate do that the DV doesnt?

But basically the wastegate controls the boost, and when there is no need for any boost, the DV 'releases' it

or dump valve releases pressure in the inlet tract (pre head) wastegate releases pressure post head

thanks t18con. makes a lil more sense now, my friend explained it as "the DV releases pressure built up.. and the Waste gate does the same thing." but he never mentioned that it was done at either side. makes more sence now.
So i guess that if you have a car with a louder waste gate then DV it would mean its running quite high boost?
