By hand, on small areas like you are dealing with, Meguiar's Scratch-X may do the trick if you persevere. Available at Halfords, IIRC.

If the scratches are too severe then you may need a pro to machine polish the affected areas to bring the finish back.

I use a machine polisher with Menzerna polishes but you can use a decent applicator pad with the same stuff which did the job on a friends car.
The Megs 3 step is also something that does the job, it will take some time but the results can be very good.

The best products I've tried are the Carlack Polishes (scratch remover followed by polishing paste). Menzerna PO91L works well followed by Scratch X.

These are all best applied using a german applicator as these help give more bite and break down the polish.

All are far better than T-Cut!

Meguairs 3 step programme. Paint restorer. polish and wax. Jobs a good'un

Thats not quite right. Step 1 is a chemical cleanser (a very good one at that). Step 2 is labelled as a polish, but is actually a glaze with no abrasvies in it whatsoever. Step 3 wax is rubbish and offers very little in the way of protection, it simply has no durability.
