I believe the difference in springs is how strong the spring is. Green is for your standard car. Yellow is for a mapped one.

EDIT: just read apparently green is good usually but people change them for yellow if they start dropping boost (spring being too soft to hold the piston closed)

Yep, that's right! I bought the DV off ebay a few months back. It was supposed to have a yellow spring included, but when I serviced it before installing I found it was very much green!!!!

Didn't really have any problems with the green as such, just had a bit of what sounded like surging once or twice in 4th onwards from low rpm and I read changing the spring to yellow solves it. Not noticed it since so it seems to have worked.

TBH I very rarely boot it under 3k rpm as I like to give the turbo enough time to spool up ...

Get you now mate thanks, I cleaned mine last week can't mind the colour tho lol, I made sure the valve didn't have a leak, put my finger on the top nipple and pushed the piston up, it should stay up as ur fingers on the nipple, if it drops down there's a leak, mines was perfect. Just wondered if I changed the sprig would it make a difference.

You'll only really notice when you're giving it some ... if you've had it mapped and the DV starts dumping when you're on full throttle then it's worth doing. Cost me £13 delivered from eBay.

Yes! Got them on mine at the moment - paid about the same. Quite impressed with them tbh. I have noticed fuel economy's dropped a fair bit since I've had them on; around 3-4 mpg.

Not good mate, if it's not broken don't fix it lol I'll stick by that.

It's supposed to drop a little when you push the piston in it drops a little but then should stay still. I would just stick with the green one if you aren't having any problems with it as I don't think there's anything to gain from changing it out mate

Cool mate thanks, think I bought my car from a sensible owner, runs sweet, only had to change a few things, turbo is perfect pulls in every gear, once the foot is down take prob half a second for the tubrbo to kick in.

I don't think it's to drop atol mate, that means you have a leak on a seal somewhere, u maybe right but what I've been reading there should be no drop.

Anyone got advice on insurance, I've had one of those black boxes in my car for a year (stupid I know), but knocked a couple quid off, this year it makes my premium £200 cheaper, but I just hate the idea of being "monitored" all the time.

I haven't made any mods, wouldn't mind having the scope to do simple things like put rims on it though and have heard there are insurers that offer like a "window" of upgrades that you can have before having to declare it to them, like a bank overdraft or something..

I remember reading about Insurance on this forum somewhere and this thread showed up in my search.

I've just finished taking all my wheels of and cleaning them inside and out, plus cleaned my brakes and painted them, cleaned and polished the car then added a pinstripe along the side of all four doors, looks fab, now got the car under cover till tomorrow as me and my son are off to Knockhill for the car show and a fast spin round the track.
