Winter clean...and copper trim

I'm definitely going to be sad to see her go next year...

After 3 years of having the car, (formally had a MK2) I finally got round to changing the interior bulbs to LEDS which look so much better. Some of the online kits were £40 plus but found someone had a put how many / what sizes you need on a thread so bought them all from Halfrauds for £12.

For some reason my radio had forgot the station logos I had previously uploaded so reinstalled them. Really easy job albeit a bit of a faff.

Finally, I bought a OBDEleven which should be here today so looking forward to having a play with that later.

Tried to take it to work, but the car had other ideas. It is currently sulking on the drive with the clutch stuck down, minimal pressure and it hit the floor before I tried starting it this morning :(

Winter wheels went on 4 new Goodyear 4 seasons gen 3 tyres 235 40 18 went on few days ago I'm really impressed with the performance... Set of new spark plugs and fresh oil and filter ready for the winter now... Opinions on the rims? Please don't comment on the vw centre caps I've got some nice ones ordered 🤣

They look like a set of 18“ VW Austin alloys that were the standard alloys on the mk7 Golf GTI, although they would’ve originally been diamond cut.

I’d always go for alloys with a painted or powder coated finish over a set of diamond cut alloys, especially for winter use (I dislike diamond cut alloys with a passion). IMHO diamond cut alloys aren’t durable enough for all round use on a car that’s used as a daily driver - any small amount of damage to the lacquered surface and it‘s only a matter of time before white worm corrosion takes hold. That’s probably why yours have been refurbished in a much more durable powder coated finish.

ergh, had car recovered and the slave cylinder has blown and ruined the clutch. On top of that, discs and pads all round required. £1,988 less 50% goodwill.

90,000 miles and no, the full price includes discs and pads all round

It's 8 years old in Feb and apart from an oil seal going, it's wanted for nothing, not even tyres so I can't complain. Just a pain right near Christmas and just as we'd cleared a previous debt. Ah well

Exactly. I've kept it in decent condition and don't want to swap, nothing comes close to it tech wise without spending silly money so £1000 in the grand scheme is nothing.

Had enough time for a maintenance wash, topped up the ceramic sealant (hybrid spray on wash off and dry jobs), new wipers, clayed the windows and used meguiars glass sealant (hope it lives up to the reviews). It’s looking fresh (for a day or so 😂)and water runs off the paint work nicely again 😃

Bought a Carista and had a spare five minutes so plugged it in, disabled fake noises and set the mirrors to fold with a single press lock.
Had a poke around the other options without changing anything but the haldex options looked interesting - does it really have the ability to be rear wheel biased or is it just a case of always driving the rears when normal mode would just drive the fronts?

In a break from the persistent 🤬 rain I had a window of opportunity to give the 300 a mid year oil and filter change 😍 Is it just me but how satisfying is it watching the dirty oil drain out to then pour in some lovely clean fully synthetic Longlife III oil 👍 She’s a happy Cupra today 👏👏
