I've got the car booked in for it's MOT next month and typically I've just got a creaking, clanging noise from the rear right area when I go over speed bumps 🙄

I'm presuming it's suspension related and just want to get some info on what brand to request ir avoid if it's shocks, springs etc, I just want the same quality and ride.

The car is a 67 plate 1.4tsi FR ST

Cheers!

I've bought Sachs shock absorbers for my 2015 FR SC. The shocks will be replaced on Tuesday. I also bought top mounts, drop links and bump stops. I listed the parts I bought here.

Just one suggestion, when buying aftermarket shock absorbers, always check your chosen manufacturer's web cat to see if they do offer a suitable one for your exact model of car, in my case, I did my research for my wife's 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS 6MT 5 Door, then discovered that ECP were being lazy and did not offer the correct part number, so I had to chat to their warehouse and in doing that was given their stock number for the Sachs shock absorber that Sachs listed for that car, please note that I did know the PR code for that item on that car - that helps.

Edit:- have you prepared for the problem maybe being a broken rear road spring - or checked for that? Same potential problem buying the correct aftermarket spring. Lesjofors is a brand that I trust for quality.

Thanks guys.

I'm just after OE quality stuff really, I'll let the garage have a look next week and go from there, I was just interested in seeing if there were any brands to avoid that a garage might offer as an alternative

"Proper" workshops will usually only fit brands of parts that are available to them from their usual motor factors - ie so that they have the protection from being able to get faulty parts handled quickly/easily - and I can understand that.

Yeah that's what I'd expect.
I just wanted to make sure the there isn't a brand from the main parts suppliers to avoid with shocks, springs etc, as I know some people say, avoid X brand with other parts etc.
