What a great engine the 1.8T is...

As the title really, I had about 2 years ago now a Chipped (REVO :-o ) LCR that was 265bhp / 305lbs ft.

The gains just from the chip on the car where somewhat amazing, the figures stayed around the same regardless of the RR, Northampton Motorsport/Power Engieering etc..

Now after an affair with the Leon TDI Fr (Revo'd of course) I have bougt a ST2 Focus:clap: :funk: :banned: .

Now the Focus has the lovely 2.5 in there, and I have remapped that and changed the intercooler and induction, Now I have just RR that and that has hit 270bhp/300lbs ft...

Now the engine is bigger, and has the same turbo k04 as the LCR but the Leon still matches the power and beats it on BHP per £££ ...:wtf:

The point of this post is if you are thinking about the LCR, JUST GO AND BUY ONE! they are great!... :p

Ronnie.
PS, We still have a leon the missus has the new 2.0 TDi:funk:

i bought my LC 180 after having a 250bhp gt-four
at first i loved the leon, i still do
every week i look at other cars as i get bored quite easily, but each time i realise-you wont get better than the leon for the money

it turns heads and gets comments and has plenty of potential for people who are interested in tuning these engines

100% agree, i love my leon, i think i may keep it until it blows up, which with 34k on the clock WILL BE A LONG TIME
not even a car you need to be rid of if you put a bun in the mrs' oven, got plenty of space

Interesting:)

I never knew the ST used the same ko4 023 turbo. Is it exactly the same? Same manifold/downpipe etc?

I totally agree, I have had my Cupra for just over 3 days now and its a great engine, sounds lovely too!

Only thing that bugs me is the strange throttle response if shifting quickly??
There tends to be a delay if i shift quickly from say 2nd to 3rd, maybe half a second?? Is this due to the electronic throttle etc??

Don't be posting this just as i am about to sell ours.

I would do anything to keep it as a second car, and its been a clear indicator to me that badge prestige stands for very little. I have more respect for the Leon Cupra/R than for any other car in the VAG range (other than the new RS4) in the last 10 years. A truly defining car for the VAG group, and one that has caused VW significant embarassment with respect to the Mk4 Golf GTi.

Its proved a very tough act to follow when choosing a new motor. Love it to pieces.

agree with the prestige badge comment

i find an LC facelift or LCR much more impressive and head turning than any golf or the s3

Chris - had my LCR for about 4 weeks. I came from a 2.0 peugeot 306 xsi (normally aspirated). Such a different character engine. Taken me a little while to get used to how to get the best from the LCR. Kept bogging down badly when pulling away (needs lots more revs than pug). Keep it over about 2100 rpm when shifting up and all is well. Enjoy! I certainly am...:D
