Weird shutdown noise?

Hi,

I own a 2015 1.2TSI Ibiza FR Black Edition, it's done just over 4,000 miles now. A month or so ago I first noticed a weird clicking/cracking type sound after I take the key out of the ignition, it does three clicks/cracks and then shuts down. It doesn't happen all of the time and hasn't been happening since then up until this week.

I never go over 2,000 rpm when the engine is cold (I measure this from the inbuilt SatNav's oil temperature feature so I don't know how accurate this is but I'm pretty sure it gives me a good idea anyway) and even when it isn't I rarely go over 3,000 rpm.

I've also heard people speak about leaving their engine running for a minute or so after parking to let everything pass through the turbo fully (I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject as you can probably tell).

I was just wondering whether anybody else has experienced this before or has an idea what it could be? It doesn't sound really bad, it's just strange and whenever I try to point it out to my Dad it never seems to happen as it's intermittent. Also, the same sound doesn't happen upon starting the engine.

Cheers!

It doesn't sound like something you should be worried.
It's a good idea to idle about 1-2 minutes before shutting off the engine to let the turbo cool down because even though water continues to circulate after shutting the engine off, oil doesn't and it's the oil that can burn inside the turbo.
