Just had a call from the Auto Electricians....

appears to be it could be the window regulator...gonna strip it down and check it out for us.......

does anyone know if you can buy the regulator seperatly or have to buy the whole window unit?

Mine has just started with the interior light and central locking clicking today!

How can you tell which one has got water in it? Will i be able to see if i take the door card off?

Sorry to resurect an old thread, but I did use the search feature :)

My Wifes 2004 Seat Leon SX has just started to do similar things. We had a lot of rain last night and when she went to come home this morning, the interior light wouldn't switch off. Then the electric windows wouldn't work and now the remote locking won't work.

Someone on a Skoda site said it could be the Comfort Control Module, a fure or the battery.

There is no Haynes manual for the car and I'm not sure where the fuses are. She's going to take my Skoda to work tonight, as I don't trust her car to work when she comes home, especially if it continues to rain as it is now.

Was also looking to download the VAG-Com software from the site in the FAQ, but I don't know what cable connection I would need for the Leon. In the list, it only shows for Audi and VW http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/

**** EDIT - Just noticed that this is in the Ibiza forum, so I'll put another thread in the Leon Forum ****
Thanks
Neil

ITS FIXED!

Finally :)

£182 later i have a window regulator that has been fixed and RESEALED!!!!!

Cracking work!!!!

Collecting in a bit :)

Hey mate.

Was that from a main dealer?
I have the same gremlin problem in my car.
Have come back to my car on a couple of occasions to find all windows completely down, alarm still on and car very wet!
To add insult, drivers window now no longer works and makes a lovely grinding noise when the window switch is operated!

I have been quoted £340 for the part, diagnostic check and labour from Fife Seat.
I think that seems pretty steep, but may just have to get it done :(

Cheers,

Hi mate,

best read the thread. You need an auto electrician and i guess it will be the water ingression in the window regulator.

That should sort ya!

Don't pay seat, you will be ripped off.

Hi guys, just thought i'd add to this to help anybody out that ever gets this. I had this problem start few weeks ago, with the car locking itself as soon as i started the engine. then it changed to putting the interior light on randomly and kept trying to unlock the car ever few seconds!

Searched around on here and it apeared to be a common fault with people, especially in damp/rain or frosty conditions!

As posted above by ****yfin2000, its the Comfort control module which is bolted onto the drivers side door window motor. I took off the door card, pealed back (carefully!!) the white screen, then you need to lower the window about 5cm, and you can see through 2 big cut out holes there are the 2 metal holders which grip the window, you can losen these using a 10mm socket then you can lift the window by hand and clamp/tape it up.

Once the window is secure there is 5 gold bolts holding in the motor essembly and runners, 3 at the front, 2 at the back, these just need to be losened, not taken out completely. then you can remove the back rail then the front rail, and unplug the cable to the motor.

I then took mine into the warm and checked it out, if you look at the front there is a L shaped silver cover by the plug, unscrew the 5 screws and remove the cover, mine was very damp inside.
I used a hair dryer to dry mine off then left it to sit in the warm for a hour to make sure it was completely dry. Then using some black silcone sealer, i sealed up any areas i thought could be better, around the plug seal and a little around the L shaped seal. Then put it all back together. and leave it dry!

I then refitted the unit to the door, dropped the window into place and tightened up everything, then refitted the door card.

Touch wood! it works perfect know, and it was doing it none stop with me, so fingers crossed its sorted!
Cost me nothing but a very small amount of silcone sealer and my own time!

Hope this helps you guys with the same problem!

I randomly came across this thread on friday afternoon...not because i had this problem. Driving home on the friday night the passanger window dropped as soon as i started the car....spooky! it did it once again sitting at traffic lights...thought my gf was mucking around with the switch! take it the window regulator is on the way out! Not had any issue with the interior light coming on or the car locking itself (but chances are it will happen on the way home tonight haha)
