Valeo Solid flywheel or standard dual mass?

Been searching through past threads trying to find a definitive answer to this, but still can't make a decision.

Basically the standard clutch is slipping on my car now. 70k miles, but could be the original. Was set for buying the AwesomeGTI heavy duty one with solid flywheel, but i can get the standard parts at a very good price.

So i've been offered the standard LUK clutch kit at a very good price, which going by posts on here should be more than enough for me at the minute. Just not sure whether to go for the LUK dmf, or the Valeo solid conversion? I'm not too bothered about chattering at idle etc, its more from a reliability point of view i'm asking.

The car at the minute is Revo Stage 1(Linear Throttle), B5 v2 TIP and Milltek cat back, and in the long term will be Stage 2 with FMIC and downpipe and decat.

Cheers

Hmm, wasn't sure if it'd be false economy or not buying the standard kit then having to replace it further down the line. Its not that i'll be doing trackdays or racing off every set of lights, but i do like a good drive out over the mountains and want a nice reliable setup that's not going to start slipping once it gets 'warmed up'.

The awesome kit does look pretty good like, and havent heard/read about a bad thing yet.

On a side note, can i do this on axle stands or do i need more height/clearance for getting the box out? Not done a Leon clutch yet :)

I have the Awsome kit (Valeo) although not from them, and i get no chatter what so ever, the large springs in the clutch plate sort that out. Its a top bit of kit. I took the engine out to do mine, the main problem is lining the gearbox up i wouldn't want to be struggling with it at any height, it was bad enough with it on the floor.

Done my clutch a couple of weeks ago, two axle stands and a couple of trolley jacks did the trick, wasnt too difficult. Just take your time. I didnt take driveshaft cups out so no leaking of gearbox oil, but would be easier with them off and lighter with the oil drained, had no problem lining the gearbox up didnt have a centering tool just used an old bar but maybe I was just lucky.

Cheers for the replies everyone :) Good to know i can do it in my own garage without having to try and get the use of mates ramps etc

What setup have you gone for if not the Awesome kit mate? Are there other kits out there i should be looking at?

The drive shafts are dry joints and are held on with 6 bolts so no oil. ;) also draining the oil wouldnt help with weight loss, you wouldn't notice the difference. :)
