Hi

I got my car back from respray today (MY03 Leon Cupra), they have obviously disconnected the battery so the radio was reading SAFE then 1000 when i got back in

got my handbook out and put in my radio code and held "PROG" as it says, it says that an audible beep will sound and the radio will work-this never happened

it is now stuck saying 2 "SAFE", according to the handbook there is a Waiting Interval which is will go back and say 2 1000 to try and enter the code again
i left it at this point and had my dinner, 20 minutes later came out

still just says 2 SAFE and no matter what i press it stays same
i need music as i have long drives and things like this REALLY big me

anybody help?

It is confusing as the manual isn't very clear. You need to leave the radio ON during the waiting time (1 hour I think). In other words switch on radio with ignition on. Turn off ignition and remove key but then switch radio back on (it will stay on for up to one hour before it switches off again). Lock car etc and radio will remain on and it should then get out of safe mode after specified time.

Tried that and it did reset the code after an hour, put the code in again as per info booklet and its done the same again!
GRRRRRRRRR
defo putting the code in my handbook in so ive no idea what else to do

another go tonight when i get home me thinks

after putting in the code its just not giving me the BEEP it says it should when holding the PROG button-how long are you meant to hold this for, no matter how long i hold it for its not taking it

first time i did it, it just asked for the code again, put it in and it locked into 2 SAFE

Mine doesn't beep either but I just held Prog down for a few seconds, put in code then prog again and bingo! If you're doing that but it still isn't working either code is wrong or you'll need it looking at. I take it you are using buttons 1-4 and then the search keys to find the right digits for each column (I guess you must be unless your code doesn't go above 6 anyway!).

i think ive worked it out, the code is wrong
i remember now the previous owner saying he had the head unit changed under warranty-so obviously he didnt write the new code down
the one in the log book must be for the original stereo that was in the car

aka im going to have to go til the new year with no music and then pay the dealers to get a new code!
