the cupra has just come back from it rip off 30k service and they have advised my turbo internals are going! so ive been looking around everywhere for a turbo upgrade thats not too pricey! got a quote from jbs for the jbs04 turbo stage2 without clutch upgrade for £2985.10p thats with custom map, jbs04 turbo, gaskets, injectors, and 4bar FPR and F-pump and labour. (id need to buy the maf housing and the cupra pd160 airbox lid) ive got all other mods needed so total will be £3k!!!!!!! :-o

ive heard about the ko3s (turbo i have) being bored out and having ko4 internals ect fitted into the ko3s housing does anybody know how much this is and power increases possible???

any help would be great as it needs sorting asap!

Just if you cant afford to get the turbo you really want at the moment, you can get the Ko3s to tide you over till your ready to splash the cash.

You can then probably sell the ko3s on for the same as what you bought it for... as long as your map doesnt knacker this one too? ;)

I spoke to JBS too mate, might do this eventually but wouldn't get money back when I come to sell!

Hybrid turbo £2070 inc fitting = 200bhp and 355lb/ft

For 230-240bhp new injectors £1145

I need a Forge front mounted intercooler so that's £900 fitted

Sachs performance clutch to take the extra torque that is created by the turbo for an extra £790 fitted.

Total... £4900

You get to drive it back and bed the turbo in!

I'd do it, 3k is quite alot, almost 5k for me though!!

just got off the phone to apr and they do a ko3s body with ko4 internals and bore it out and it only costs £900unfitted they do 4 diffrent types aparantly in order of reliability (better bearings ect) id get the most reliable for piece of mind so this is the cheeper option for me at the mo he's going to ring me back on monday to give me a fitted price and its only in london which isnt far from me  but i am majorly tempted to the jbs04

Hi Rash

Just to let you know our turbo retails at £1000+VAT and is capable of 280-300bhp without any problems ;)

If you would like a break down on the cost, just let me know :)

just get it reconditioned you will need a clutch if you put anymore power and torque through it. if its just the seals that have gone get them replaced. or go to another dealer and dont mention the map worth a try

think im going to get jbs04 and get the uprated clutch a couple of months later when my wallet has made a little recovery its lucky i got this work bonus coming up :p might as well go all out

it wont just be the map voiding the warranty the downpipe and exhaust dont help aparantly think its a sign to upgrade you only live once hey ;)

clutch wont last a week so you will end up driving slow for that time but a jbs04 is just a ko3 hybrid you will be paying more for the kit as such compaired to getting bits yourself

will only be paying for the turbo itself the 4bar F.P.R the 4 bar fuel pump the injectors and the remap il buy the maf 3"housing and the sensor and the pd160 lid myself before the upgrade no problem!

edit: i need it fast too and sending away my turbo will take too long and will have to do all the work myself around work and then take it somewhere to be remapped

tripe d  i was considering just getting the turbo and fitting and the remap for money reasons but then id be running alot less power and within months il be wanting the uprated bits then it will be a 3 hour drive back to jbs to get all the bits added and anouther 350 quid to have the remap played with again!!! not worth it so just gonna do it all

the full shibang without the manifold because 300bhp is knocking on the door of internals and i cant be doing with that!
