The link in post #1305 above, or here which shows the coverage with nice graphics :-

https://webspecial.volkswagen.de/vwinfotainment/int/en/index/downloads/maps-download#/ (I went via Golf R, 2017 for MIB 2 standard / Discover Media)

Although the VW link in Webpecial shows the old dates, but yes it appears to unpack that file... VW for you. I'd ignored that page before when looking around. Suspect that's just been edited in, in the last period, but haven't changed the release dates... that tallies to when they re-released last year's stuff in January 2018 :).

See they have updated it for the Navi Plus now as well although not the dates.

So now my hacker mind starts to wonder, can you pick a couple of bundles and assemble them as one ;)

Cue Exciter... The author of the work around. Mib2 High are signed so you cant edit those files... locked down in two places, the macro upload and again when copied in. I recall these aren't without looking at them and they aren't copied. Just run off.

I thought those bundles are for MIB2 Standard?

They used to have whole Europe in one package and now you can only have areas with this update.
I am wondering if there are map folders inside the different packages and what happens if you combine a few on the same SD.
...and this is me who doesn’t even use the inbuilt navigation - I only use Waze via AA, but I have a curious mind and now feel like getting this to work ;)

Jim's post 1041, page 53 how I see it.

Substitute the 1030 for the one of your choice on the list above.

So as not to re-invent the wheel for the PC since Jim's post with graphics was rather good....

You need 7Zip ideally can be obtained from

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Safe to take the 32 bit one even if your PC is 64 bit.

Install that. After installing it if you right click in the file manager on a 7zip file it gives you 7Zip and to the right select Open Archive. That's your tool to open the 7Zip files, you drag and drop out of that to location. Other zip software can be unreliable, VW recommends only 7Zip for the task. Then we follow Jim's notes -- looks at his pictures :).

1. Check the version information in Settings on your Mib2 Nav, it should look something like this

(needs to show 6P if it's doesn't it's not a MIB2 standard and you can't and shouldn't do it !)

2. Download the latest map release as listed above within this thread (your choice of which part of Europe).

3. Unzip the 7z file to a new folder (NewMaps for example) on your PC using The Unarchiver app available from the App Store and other sites.

4. Remove the Navigation SD card from the card slot in the glovebox Nav unit.

5. Unlock the removed SD card and place it into your PC via card slot or adapter and take a copy of all the contents of the card (folder is named ‘maps’) to a new folder on your PC (OldMaps for example).

6. Delete all the visible contents (the folder named maps) from the SD card. The hidden files will not be affected.

7. Copy the entire contents (not the folder name) of the folder you created called NewMaps to your existing SD card. When complete you should see exactly what you viewed previously - an SD card labelled NO NAME containing a folder labelled maps.

8. Locate the /maps/EEC/EEC_WILD/OVERALL.NDS on your SD card and replace it with your original file of the same name from folder OldMaps on your PC.

9.You’re now finished on the PC, so safely eject the updated SD card.

10. Place the SD card back into SD1 slot in the Nav unit and select Navigation from the menu, don’t worry as there will be a slight delay whilst it locates and loads the new maps. Go to settings and scroll down to Version and you should see an updated version number in this case XXXX

Where XXXX is the version you downloaded as new.

You are all finished, happy Navigating!

For a MAC change PC to MAC and ignore the 7Zip stuff at the top since I suspect MACs have 7Zip built in :).

As with previous updates, all went as expected when using DiscoverMedia2_EU_DL2_1120_V10. Still have 'broken' saved Destinations and Favourites that need recreating..... When I went on a 60MPH road, instead of seeing one speed symbol of '60', I saw two, a '50 and a '60'. When I then went onto a dual carriageway, it showed '60' and '70'. When I then went into a 40MPH, it showed only one '40'. Very odd! Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I downloaded the same file and have exactly the same new feature: two different speed symbols for some roads, but just the one symbol for others - it is indeed very odd! I wonder if this is related just to the '1120' download or if it's also happening in the '1115' versions too?

I get an overlay abroad of kph on the mph but not that that's on the Plus. I'll investigate a bit.

I'm wondering (have had 1/2 bottle of wine)... that feature you are seeing on the screen is the bad weather speeds you see in other countries that use them, but data has got scrambled in its use in the UK so you are seeing garbage instead since they shouldn't be used in the UK. That's my theory of what you are seeing. You'd have to see what people are saying on the continent about it and VW / Skoda sites in the UK.

Trailer towing I configure that as off in the unit. Something to check, could be that rather than lorry / car :).

Include trailer : Calculate the route and arrival time
for the vehicle with a trailer.

One test that you can do to try to replicate it for anybody who has it or wants to check, is to put the unit in "demo mode". That's in advanted settings.

Demo mode : When Demo mode is activated and
route guidance is started, virtual guidance to the entered destination can be initiated.

Define demo mode starting point : if demo mode is activated, a fictitious starting point for virtual route
guidance can be defined when the vehicle is sta-
tionary.

Was going to try that with the Dunkirk - Calais road which has twin dry / wet speeds to see whether the screen displays that on the High version. The manual is lacking on how it displays wet / dry speeds. I recall the icon has a wavy line on it. Demo mode is how I check that I'm getting the bong after uploading speed cameras.

Thanks, I'll check those settings. it's got to be something to do with trailer speeds as it goes down to a single '40' symbol when you enter a 40MPH zone.

It's very annoying when you find that most, but not all, of your favourites are broken and need recreating. I've never understood why this happens everytime.

I'm not too sure what happened to your favourites. They are stored in the units memory. That feels like a corruption of the memory by the program. What programmers call leaky code where the program writes into areas it shouldn't (those are the blue screens in Windows).
