Tyres - differing opinions - need a result!

Cheers everyone. From the advice on these pages I've had a set of 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 225/40R18's fitted. 92Y XL FP, made in Germany. In the end they cost me £475 all in with a cup of coffee and a chat to a mate I have'nt seen in ages who's just spanked his 400+BHP Evo VIII into the tyre wall on a Cadwell Park trackday!

So far I've only driven it home but first impression is they look great on the car and seem to offer excellent protection to standard LCR rims.

To FRESHMODE who started this thread, I really did look long and hard at all the options and comments and decided that although they're not nearly the cheapest, they seem to be the best. Time will tell.

Went for the Eagle F1s in the end and got a pretty good deal through Kwik fit (25%off), a mate of mine works there and brought price down a bit to £445 all in. Also got free tracking too but i'd imagine you'd have to pay extra for that normally

Very happy, very direct steering and grippy

If you've got the cash spare i'd suggest shelling out now while there's an offer on these top of the range, reinforced must have tyres

Well just got 2 F1 asymmetrics, £258 ready for the track.
I wouldn't let Kwik fit touch my tracking as its only 2 wheel which is no use for our platforms.
It must be 4 wheel alignment

With 4 wheel alignment the rears are checked to see if they run true and in parallel with each other, if they dont it could be down to the car sustaining some kind of damage but it's rare that there'll be a problem. Then the fronts are checked against the back as part of the alignment process. This will also tell you (hopefully) that your car has never been jigged/cut in half.

I am also having the same problem choosing 2 new tyres for the front and also put a post on here for help. At the moment i am thinking of giving the falken 452s a go seeing as they have bin getting not bad reviews and also cheap but have changed my mind a few times lol.

Sorry F1s i can get Falkens from there for £130 i think it was. Is it worth the difference?

Not tried the F1's but currently got Falkens on the front (original P Nero's on the back) and tbh I can't really fault them (still plenty of tread after 10k and havent sent me ditchward yet lol). Depends on how hard you plan on pushing the car but under normal driving conditions I'd probably say the Falkens are the better buy (cost v performance based on the above review).

Remember the above price won't include balancing and fitting which I'd expect to be in the region of £15 per tyre...

Saying that I fancy giving the F1's a try next. Not because the Falkens are bad but because I've heard so many good things about the F1's...

Thats exactly what I did mate. I ws actually shocked how good the Falkens were for the cash. I've not heard anyone who have had them fitted to an LCR complain (tyres behave differently on different models)...

Go for it mate, if you hate them just go for the F1's after. 15k miles isnt exactly a lifetime :D
