Very interesting thread m8 keep us all updated. And as for internal done depends what u want if ur just replacing rods bearings rings etc to the same standed 1s then ur lookin at 500 plus but if ur going forged then ur hittin the grand barrier if not more. In my experiance its worth spending more as it will last!

Evening lads well I'm a week in with the Leon and actually having trouble deciding whether to keep it or not these last couple of days.

It's not as good on petrol as I first thought. It must have had a bit left in when I first filled it up, despite the gauge reading empty, as I let it get low the other day before filling up and I'm not looking at anything like the range I got after my first fill up. No biggie but it's looking like 40 miles to a tenner, whatever that is in MPG.

I still dislike the FWD feel and I feel a bit old for it, truth be told. When I've driven it hard on the road to get a feel for it, to try and help in my decision to keep it or not, I've felt like a bit of a boy-racer flying past people etc. I don't mean round the doors but on dual carriageways or country roads and not necessarily even overtaking, just passing people going the other way.

When I look at the mods and money it's had spent on it I think "Keep it, it's a performance bargain." but then I think "I just potter to work and back so do I need the hassle of having a bottom end rebuild to make it reliable, etc, etc?"

I'm going to come to a decision tomorrow and take it back on Monday if I'm not keeping it.
I don't want to risk anything happening to it whilst in my care if I'm not buying it.

Nevermind, I'll see what I decide.
