Tracking - rear tyre problems

Can you explain why not?
I thought it was all down to the weight of the car not the tyres size or profile.
But have never done any investigation into this so could be off the mark

100% the LCR does need the XL tyres on 225-40-18's
Lots for reports on here of tyres wearing out in 4,000 miles and atrocious handling with non XL's

The critical thing here, as has been said, is the load rating of the tyre.

Leon's in general require a 91 load index

This means, for 225/40ZR18 tyres, you require the XL tyres.
For 225/45ZR17 the standard load tyre is a 91 load index, and so perfectly adequate. The XL in this size has a load rating of 94.

Therefore, LCR with 18" wheels does require XL tyres, the LC / FR with 17" wheels does not.
