Is the security film alot more expensive than tinited film?

Also can you get a slightly tinted security film to to take the 'standard tints' up to 30% on the fronts??

Cheers

got mine done a few weeks ago
100 quid from my mates business (SR autotints Peterhead-aberdeenshire), took about 4 hours.

Loving the job, not too dark as i didnt want it to be a pest to reverse.
Would recommend doing it, but like i did stay within the law and dont bother with the fronts, the MY03 cupra has slightly tinted glass as standard

For the fronts we test anyone who steps foot into our lovely unit in order to advice them on the options but taking you to as near as we can get to the limit.

Of course the end result is you driving your car away, legally and with a smile on your face cos it will look the best tint in the country.

Security films range in thickness and in tint, they are classed as optically clear films which is why the insurance companies love em. Hoever nothing is clear in this world and more so nothing is optically clear so they all block light.

We use good quality films only and they blcok anything from 2% through to 8% in most cases we can apply 4-6% optically clear films to vehicle, but its the net effect that works best especially if you choose no more than a medium tint for the rear.

The tint is brought forward from the back and a small sun strip also helps prevent that 'van' type look you describe.

Check out www.sctints.co.uk and soon to be live (under test but you can have an early play) is www.southcoasttints.co.uk be the fist to have a play, feedback welcome, the galley is not complete but the quote system is working.

pm me if you want his number nearer the time
his names scott, shop is just far side of Peterhead.

The leon rear trim was a total ******* to get off and back on in one piece, scott will prefer you to leave the car with him for 4 hours or so.

Mention Rik and he'll start grinning and winging no doubt.

Ive just had my tints done, £ 230.00 All In and i was really impressed, a professional job, took nearly all day.

Went for 40% Front, and 35% rear,
Have you had any funny looks from the feds since you had the tints done, and do you think it will look more obvious on an arctic grey leon?
PS Fabia rear wiper looks the dogs. Tidies up the rear somewhat! Ta very much!

Im gonna get my windows tinted soon.. cant decide how dark to go.

My mum has tinted windows on her black anniverary golf (no shes not a drug dealer) we where going down the motorway and suddenyl out of no where a stone slammed into the drivers window, the whole window shattered but held together.. she couldnt see out of it.. so decided to knock it out.. it made me think just how hard a tinted window would be to push out in an emergency.. it was sooo hard to seperate ythe glass from the film, as the whole window wanted to come out as one.

Just a thought...

but i still want mine done :p maybe a light smoke...

I phone up my insurance company (elephant.co.uk) on fri to ask about tints, she asked how much the tints would be (% wise) i said i would be getting the security film on the fronts and 35-40 on the rear. As soon as i said 'film' she said 'sorry we don't insure the film, i tried to tell her what i was for but to no avail.

Anyone else find this???

Personally i thought the insurance companies would incourage the sercuity film

Cheers

I know it sounds daft but ring them again, you will for sure get a different voice on the end of the phone and start from scratch. Bit of a paine but worth it.

I'm with Elephant and I had no issues what so ever on my VW Bora v6 4 Motion. Tinted to the legal limit as you could imagine on the front sides with medium around the back.

Hi every1

Let me just tell you lads, best people for tints are PENTAGON TINTS! Brilliant!

They use the film in such a way that it is very difficult to notice to ending line of the film, it just looks like dark glass! but believe me on my cupra PENTAGON tints look awesome!

On many occasions, strangers driving mercs, bmw, subarus etc have come upto to me or next to me(on road) and have complimented my tints!

Im with CIS, they dont mind tints! as long as u inform them, they're fine with it!

Its obvious that there is a possiblity of getting pulled by coppers for tints, but its worth the risk! good tints make the car extra special!

Pentagon charge around 250!
Just surf the net and enquiry about PENTAGON.

Pentagon are a franchise. They are good at what they do also and it's good that you talk so highly of them, however our experience is that they would rather take your money, than tell you what the current legislation is, with regards to the UK Window Tinting Law.

www.southcoasttints.co.uk can keep you witin the law but ensure your vehichle looks the best with comfort.

No doubt soutcoast tints are good! ive heard some gr8 stuff about you lot! but PENTAGON in its own right are as good!

And in regards to the tinting law......... people know exactly wot they gettin themselves into when tinting the car! so it isnt much of a big deal if pentagon dont mention the requirements of the tintin law!

No matter wot tints you get......... if the coppers wana pull you over, they will!

ive had my tints on my cupra and my previous car from PENTAGON! AND IVE NOT BEEN PULLED!

I agee but also hav to disagree, you can be cool within the law and that is what South CoaSt Tints live & breed on Vs just grabbin what ever money you can get. I'm not gonna get bitchy here but we care about our customers licenses...Window Tinting is a BIG industry and some of us are on the customers side even if it does jeopordise revenue.

Our customers are proud that we inform them...

To be honest.............. every tint company is there to make money, whether it is PENTAGON or southcoast.

its good you inform your customers, but im pretty sure PENTAGON would do the same if asked! bottom line is, forget informig, the quality of tint they provide is excllent.

i was thinkin of getting my tints done from southcoast.......... but you are too far from where i live! so i got it done from PENTAGON in manchester! who are as good as southcoast or possibly better! ;)

See here

Based in Leicester but may travel if there is more than a couple of cars to do. Good quality work and highly recommended. He's done a few cars on here, did my Leon for £150. :D

I'm going to contact this guy. Anyone got any pics of 35% on rear and 50% on front? or 50% rear with none on front (as its not legal to have more than 70% light blocked?) especially on black cars

The price and quality from what I've read here seems good.Like to get it done for the few days of sunshine we get here:D

I have exactly this lol, and got it done from Liam a while ago, i think maybe early 2005. The are very nice chaps, and i got his details from the post you were talking about, very happy with my tints, and he'll give you good advice, and show you the films before so you can see whats what. I have 35% on the rear, and 50% on the front, and been pulled a couple of times, but never for the tints, and the they didnt even mention them one bit when i was talking to them! Pics:
