I had a strange ticking noise in my engine bay, it only happened at idle. I took it to the garage today and they said that its supposed to be there, its a purge valve or something.

the box where its coming form is next to the windscreen washer bottle. does anyone know what this purge thing is?!!!

thanx

yes, it's purging the carbon filter. the fuel tank vent through the filter, then the fumes are sucked into the engine at idle so it doesn't get saturated.

Hi all,

I've noticed this ticking noise when idle as well and its really annoying me. The local garage confirming that it is the purge valve but say that although it makes that noise it is still working correctly.

Does anyone know if there is a way of stopping this ticking/clicking noise. although some people have mentioned that most LCR's do this i would be surprised if that was the case as i dont think people would put up with it. I will be seriously considering getting the valve change if there is not easy solution as the noise is driving me nuts. :(

Cheers
