Did you crimp (scotchlok) or solder the wires in?

Righto - my wires seem to be all different colours from some of the posts found on the forum so thought I'd take a pic to show what I'm doing in case I'm on the wrong track.

Got the smoked Auto gauge with the red, balck and orange wires.

I connected the wires as follows - see diagram - and the guage light's up with ignition on - no buzz:

No 1) - Red
No 2) - Black

Now - if I want the dimming facility where should I connect the orange? To a wire in the loom labled No 3?

i never plugged the orange. i just tapped it up! it looks better!

But the orange apparently facilitates the dimming option...
