Prept - Brands Hatch

All I can say is that it was a fantastic day at Brands. Big thanks to AmD for the invite and getting together some awesome cars and very friendly people.

Unfortunately I was only a spectator and a camera man. On the journey to meet up with Tom, D.K and Dave the car decided to............in short.............. shut itself down. Completely stunned me as it has been an absolute animal lately and running 100%. Managed to poodle the car to Tom's and left it there after we scanned with VAGCOM and DK sent it over to AmD for a quick telephone diagnosis. As always it can be a number of things from sensors to connections etc etc but it does seem some kind of electrical fault is to blame.

The saying "the show must go on" sprung to mind as I did not want to ruin the day for the others so kindly got a lift there and enjoyed the rest of the day. Great to see the lads on track and the massive grin on their faces afterwards says it all. Hopefully next time I will have a bit more luck on my side and get my chance on track.

Car is off to AmD on Saturday and they will be looking into the issue next week.

Anyway a fancy iPhone pic is in order me thinks :D

Sorry to hear about you missing out on the track day pal. Better luck next time, at least you got to go along and watch.

You'll just enjoy it all the more when you finally do get it on the track. :)

Was a fun day out mate, but a great shame about the car playing up on that day!

Still, she's going to be fixed soon and I'm sure it'll be going round Brands' before the year is out.

:)

Slowly drove the car to AmD today to get it checked early next week. Wanted to take it today as I could get my brother to follow me up there in case the car got worse.

On route I noticed that by feathering the accelerator I can drive it and slowly pick up speed, however the moment you try to press it the whole car judders aggressively and feels like it’s going to cut out with the exhaust popping and banging. Left the keys in the capable hands of the AmD staff who said it will be looked at early next week.

A few hours later I get a call from Ben at AmD saying he has bad news

Bad news being that the car is fixed :D They decided to quickly look at it as I had all the notes of what happened and the fault codes when I scanned it with VAGCOM. They somehow managed to find the issue and fix it. There were two wires which hit and these caused a short circuit causing the whole car to mess up. Even they were amazed how these could cause such a mess and bring up the fault codes.

So I am very relieved it was a very simple fix but totally gutted something so silly mad me miss out on such a great track event.

Once again the AmD guys have provided a truly fantastic service. You hear a lot of company bashing online but I have never had any issues with these guys and they have always excelled in my opinion in every way possible. For this reason I will remain a satisfied customer and will continue using them!!

Also want to say thanks to Tom and D.K for the help and support. Appreciate it my TED mofos

Ahh btw here are the scary fault codes which came up which made me think the worse:

Great news mate :D

Wouldn't take my car many other places tbh. Bashers are pure haters and mainly of the sheep kind, you have your car maintained well and that's what matters :)

Hopefully you'll get your car on track soon mate... It is great fun and your car is very well spec'd up, she'll cope fine and be tearing up the tarmac.. ;)

Pleased you got it fixed EL, AmD providing a great service once again. I wouldn't take mine anywhere else, customer service & communication is so important to me. This is something they do very well, it's a slick operation they run. Well worth the 80 mile round trip I do.

Feel like I have been neglecting the forum for a long time. Recently purchased house has been taking up so much of my time it's unreal. Even the cars had to take a break although I had to quickly clean it in the dark tonight to get it ready for a rolling road event at AMD Essex tomorrow. Always a good laugh down there with plenty of cars. I will get it on the rollers and see what it is pulling although in this heat il be lucky to hit anything decent

Such a funny day out. Got to love a bit of AMD rolling road action and the over reading of the rollers........no hang on they never over read on mine :censored: lol

Bloody hot day so hit no where near what the car can do at 277bhp. Nonetheless great day and always nice catching up with people and meeting new faces.

Highlight obviously being the drive to and from AMD ;)

Did you get respectable torque though. This is the main priority ;)

Sent from my iPhone when I should be working....

Torque is going to be down aswell as the intake temps were around 50 degrees. Any car over 300 today is running well. Most of us did including El.

Why did you not turn up Brett?
