TCS light coming on

Hello guys, first time post looking for a little help.

Recently a few weeks back I started noticing the TCS light coming on in my Mk4 Ibiza FR 130 TDi. It comes on usually after about 12-15mins of driving, if I turn the ignition off and then on, it resets and comes back on again around 12-15mins later.

What I only noticed the other day was that the rear wishbone bush on the passenger side has become worn and needs replaced, I am just wondering is this what could be causing the TCS light to come on?

The car only just came out of warranty about 6 weeks before this started happening and I really don't fancy taking it to the dealer as they will charge a fortune I'm sure to look at it.

The car is also bog standard with no engine modifications etc.

Many thanks

Thanks for the reply mate, had a look round and seen a guy with a similar problem, so I went out to my local mechanics and he plugged in his tool and gave me a code, I wrote it down but now I can't find it :S althou I do remember it saying "Resistance too great" or something along those lines.

Trying to call him back now to see if I can get the code.

I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be a broken wire by the alternator generating a load signal error. It will happen after 10 mins almost dead on, but I remember in the early days for me that it always seemed a minute or two longer!

Check out the following post:-

Or search for Load Signal

Was dead easy to fix, jack up the car and remove the undertray with a few simple screws then bypass the little block using a short length of wires and crimp connectors or something similar. You will find the little block by the alternator as the wire normally breaks at that point. The post has piccy's too so I would recommend checking that out.

It was dead easy though.

Thanks very much for that mate, I had a look under the car this morning and the two wires are indeed broken, gonna jack her up in work and join them together.

Again, thanks and thanks also to everyone who helped out.
