Tcs light

HI peeps

Just brought a 2001 ibiza cupra. i have the warning triangle on in the dash. The tcs button doesnt feel like its working at all, feels like the spring has gone, and the tcs light stays on in the dash when i press the switch. are these a common problem. Also when you have the heated rear screen on the button changes from red to orange, but not the tcs button. its always on red.

Can you help, are these switches easy to replace and if so roughly how much

cheers

TJP

Snap same here once or twice for MAF low signal, basically a failure, and also had it when I had a faulty ABS sensor too.

Ive had mt ABS&TCS light on for a good few months now, both not working, scanned with VAG com the other night and these fault codes for the ABS came up.

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1J0-907-37x-ABS.lbl
Part No: 1J0 907 379 AF
Component: ASR 20 IE CAN 0001
Coding: 13404
Shop #: WSC 00000

3 Faults Found:
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
35-00 - -
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
04-10 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent

Could this be MAF related or is it the sensor or pump?

Any ideas?

mine said the same about the wheel/speed sensors, it was one of the front ones but we checked them all and they were working 100% so i think my maf must be on its way out?

Mine are on aswell, but I think my speed sensor has REALLY gone! To the extent that where the 'tooth' on the sensor gets stuck in the grooves on the hub, meaning my break pedal gets stuck and makes a terrible noise! Needing a non-rainy day to pull it apart to have a looky.

Yeh thats exactly what mine was doing Riko, like a nasty grinding sound and the abs light was coming on and off, like you could feel it kicking in and out, but at very low speeds. Must be a speed sensor. Is worth changing them both or just the faulty one? I guess if its just picking up a fault on the left hand side one then the right hand side one must be fine, if it aint broke dont fix it!

Yeah only when I'm crawling down my street I get it, but weirdly it's much worse when I reverse off the drive! Defo kicks in and out it give quite scary feedback through the pedals sometimes, and won't let me press the brake pedal down properly!! mine feels like the drivers side. Quite amusing not having ABS though, squirming car under heavy breaking and wheel spinning in most gears on these horrible 'greasy' roads!

Tell me about it. Im not too bothered about the TCS, always have that off anyway as it is more likely to cause a crash than prevent it, but i do miss having the security of the ABS. Going to order the speed sensor from ECP.

Is it easy to replace do you know?

I imagine its fairly straight forward, but won't know if anything else has snapped off until I take a look at it? I can hear a slight metallic rubbing when cornering slowly at low speed like somethings rubbing on the disk slightly??
