I agree with the above and having seen your car in the metal, there's not much room for improvement, nothing that good DIY day can't sort with some clay, polish & glaze. TBH I think you'd appreciate the money more on that ARB you've been talking about :).
You will be amazed at the difference. You can never achieve anywhere near the level of correction, depth, shine, gloss a machine polish will bring to a car by hand.

Look forward to the results Tom.

It's meant to rain tomorrow so I will try to ;)

I don't have to pay for this detail..

I'm very excited mate. It's hard to turn down the offer of a free detail from someone that's been doing it their whole career. I hope he doesn't mind going near a Leon as he's used to Koeniggsegg's and SLR's!!! :cartman:

I'll post plenty of pics up with the results.

I have a machine polisher you can borrow if you want

Thanks for the offer mate, but there's no need.

The car is going upto Ultimate Finish's unit at Brands Hatch tomorrow early morning. The detail is pencilled in for Wednesday next week. :funk:

I'm so excited about this! :)

Car is now at Ultimate Finish HQ.

I dropped my car off at Ultimate Finish by Brands Hatch this morning, my friend Rob will be working on the car during the upcoming week, performing the correction detail and applying a recommended sealant to use to finish her off before I get her back.

He went round and tested the depth of the paint - I don't really know anything about all this but he said it was in a good state of play. Also no sign of any panel being resprayed in the past :) He did however find swirls from the previous owner where they may have used a crappy car wash, but he said they will be gone by the time it's finished.

There is some serious cars down there (RS4 detailed yesterday and a 996 Turbo waiting to be done) and mine felt very out of place but hey ho, he said he'll get stuck in and transform the car! I cannot wait. He said he will take plenty of pics as he knows I'm on the forum too. So they will be uploaded don't worry

There is a couple of other things which me and Rob discussed to get done while it is at the unit. I don't actually NEED the car until the 29th July now, so I'm going to take this opportunity to get these 'other' things done and I'll have her back when she's got her new look.... [B)]

I'm glad I'm finally getting her detailed for the 1st time, as sadly I've started to look at replacements for her possibly within a years' time. No love loss with the car, but I may upgrade if it's financially possible within a the space of the year. I'm pretty much set on what car I want next so have something to aim at now.

Cannot wait till she's done.
:D

Tom your car will be amazing once it's detailed!! Can't wait to see the pics, as I usually say one of the best 'modifications' is a proper machine polish/detail

Thanks mate :D

Yeah, my friend is very keen to get started on it as it's never been done before. So for me, the results are an unknown which I'm really excited about.

Looking forward to the results mate. Plenty of pics please :D

Me too bud :)

Don't worry, I didn't even have to ask him to take loads of pics of the detail. He knows I love a picture of it so will be taking many as he goes along. I won't be picking the car up until it stops raining, lol.

Mid-detail pics

Guys, here are some pics I was sent by Rob who's detailing the car. These are only day one pics. I will have the car back tomorrow morning :D

Looks as though she's coming up beautifully for her 1st detail!

And next to a Scud for the night..

I'll update here with more pics once she's home. I cannot wait. She's looking sexy!

Also, wheel refurb and re-colour is pencilled in for a couple of weeks time... [B)]

It's time to get the look of the car to match the spec it has. Rob said as he was starting the detail that the paint was quite flat in places and there is massive improvements to be made from an average state! Without bigging up my own cleaning, I thought the car comes up well after I clean it but to him it is dirty and no where near his standard...

Pics up tomorrow!

Looking good mate, what colour you doing the wheels?

Thanks mate, wait until the final set of pics till she's home :D

Not sure on the wheels, but I'll decide within a couple of weeks for sure.

Think you should do the wheels in black chrome:p

It's a good call and Rob who's detailing the car did mention it, but a darker shade..

We will see!

Looks real good dude. You decided on wheel colour now? I have no clue what to do with mine, doing my head in now!!

Thanks matey :)

Haha, I know it's a big decision though. It can make or break a car! Just don't copy me LOL ;)

Glass look is good!! :D

Ahh don't it's doing my head in trying to think of what shade to go! I think once I see the car post-detailing, I'll be able to make my mind up a bit easier..

I did the poll in the thread and fry over black came out ontop, but I have a couple of other options up my sleeve.
