Thanks for the info guys.... indeed I know its mainly my fault for trying to save money - not FK. But FK's service isnt very good, haven't even mentioned where i got the kit from yet.

I just thought buying something like this would not cause me problems this early on - they've been on the car since feb, and 5 months down the line they are dying on me.... and I know I'm not the only one with this issue...

Pabs i got the set of coilover sport kits of Eibach, fitted at JBS, its by far the best kit around IMHO, the H&R where too pricey and hard on the ride, where the Eibach, retained a semi comfort ride, but the moment you wanna chuck it around its a great piece of kit!
Onyl prob is aint cheap... i think JBS can fit it for like £800 odd i think? You'd have to check?

Well worth a think thou, had same kit on the Focus and that was amazing thou corners!

Kits i can think of are:
Koni FSD's (ok there koni but not a coilover so maybe ok for you?)
KW's
H&R
Eibach
Spax
Blisterin (sp?)
Gaz (new manufactuer i think, well they have taken over an old brand)

Weitec kits are similarly priced to FK.

Then again, i'd heard something to the effect that they are either made by FK (not sure that's true tho) or use the same Koni inserts (more likely).

It seems a little odd that both your front struts would fail so soon, are you sure they were fitted correctly? If they've generated excess 'play' they may have been subjected to excessive lateral force.

I've got Weitec Hi-Con GT's as recommended by Brian @ Jabba.

£475

I also needed new top mounts while they were at it, and 10mm spacers on the front to clear my new wheels.

Time will tell....

are they damping and hieght adjustable?

how is the ride? bumpy?

Damping not adjustable, height- erm... yes, you get two spanner thingys so you can set the height just right, but it's a wheel off job - with my wheels anyway.

Ride is ok. I've not been in a lowered car since my school days when a slammed MK1 astra was all the rage, with essentially no suspension. The closest thing I can compare it to is a Civic Type R. Motorway is fine - gunning along B roads can get a bit exciting.

:)

EDIT - That's the GT's, they do a fully adjustable one for about 600quid I think

Got the Eibach Pro-Street-S coilovers on my Leon , supplied and fitted by Jabba , cannot fault them in any way , actually found them more comfy than standard + better road holding and better looks . They cost £535 + fitting (about £160 I think).

No... Eibach not damping adjustable, just height and to be honest damping is just a waste of time as with adjuctable damping, it can be set up wrong so easily and well they say adjustable, there not really, mate had a 306 on adjustable damping and put it on hard for track then on the way home he put it on the softest setting, he said " no bloody difference!"

Hence i went height adjust only and eibach known ride quality made me feel alot more at ease with the final outcome!

ok, got in from my mates garage and yep....my ~FK's are proper FOOKED!!!!

the passenger side front unit is worse, the insert is "knocking" inside the unit, there is alot of play there.

the drivers side front has a small bit of play, but nothing like the passenger side. we took it all off and checked everything was fitted correctly. and it was. my mate is a trained vw mechanic so i was sure he hadnt done anything wrong. one of the very few people i trust with my cars!!
so its a friendly phone call with rimstyle for me tomorrow. i wonder if they can send me another kit, (ie another brand) rather than having to have another set of "Frequently Knackereds" (fks)
