Suspension kit vs coilovers?

I'm still a bit confused when it comes to this topic and what I know so far is that (correct me if I'm wrong I'm a noob): Getting springs alone is dangerous for the dampers so a suspension kit would be ideal.... But... that a coilover change is even better. Looking at pictures, it looks like the coilovers is like springs + dampers + some stuff all together, or is this a completely different part? If I change the coilovers do I still have to change the springs and dampers if I want the car lowered? What's the difference? Thanks

Edit: Nevermind I found this http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=242952

If you have anything to add let me know! I will probably go with the suspension kit as I think that 40/40 is enough?

Getting springs alone is fine if your shocks are still good but a kit is better or at least new shocks to go with the new springs, coilovers are like all in one spring and damper that you can adjust for height etc so you remove the existing springs and shocks and fit the coilovers in their place. You should google coilovers for good technical info.:)

Hey thanks! But... what are shocks? I searched it up but it looks exactly like the dampers :/ If I get the suspension kit (springs + dampers) should I also change the shocks for a longer lifetime?

shocks, shock absorbers etc are just other words for dampers.

Fitting just lowering springs does not make the car dangerous at all, in any way shape or form.

Ideally you would upgrade the springs and dampers. I think coilovers are over the top though(despite having them on my octavia). coilovers are alot harsher than most suspension kits, also need to be set up correctly with corner weights IMO, and everytime you adjust it im a firm believer you should re set up the car. other wise whats the point in coilovers in the first place.

You can drop the height of your springs by 40mm with the standard shocks/dampers, it depends how much you want to spend and what you're looking for, are you wanting better handling without lowering, do you want the car to sit a bit lower for looks and handling, how far would you like to lower it etc. This is my Coedoba with a 40mm drop on sports springs.
