Well my baby was happily driving alone tonight when suddenly she felt like she was only running on 3 cylinders. The engine management light came on and then stated to flash, later stopped and then started again.
Managed to get home and pulled the codes. These are what came up.
16684, 16687, 16688. Also 17511 ( had this before and then it went away but thing the o2 sensor is either knackered or on its way out. Also came up 17535 - could be related to the o2 sensor fault?
Now here is the strange one.... 17505. Can't seem to finn this one anaywhere! Any help anyone? I need my car for my 30 mile journey to work every day and don't really know where to start. I was thinking faulty ignition coil etc but i could be wrong.
car is a 2000 x reg leon cupra 1.8 20VT

If it sounds like a scooby than its defo a coil pack. Same thing happened to me last month.

Euro car parts sell VAG coil packs for £23.

Very easy to fit. Disconect plug and just pull up & out.

To test which one it is, start the car and pull the plugs out on the coil pack one at a time till when you pull one of them out it makes no difference to how it runs.

im not convinced it your coilpack.. try to change a coil pack with another on to see if it moves the fault!! between cylinders... other wise do a thread search for (cylinder 3 down again? it will explain what my fault was !! mine was wiring to injectors that had split and were shorting out!! my fault codes were almost the same as yours let me know if you need some help!!!
cheers.........................

tried moving the coils about by no difference. Got a new coil and tried it in the the one that was coming up as faulty and bingo, done the trick. Also gave me a bit of good news. I had been getting a intermittant fault code for the front o2 sensor, but after clearing all the codes and having fitted the new coil i have done 100 miles and it hasnt come up again. Wondering if the coil was producing a 'bad burn' and so throwing the readings? We will have to wait and see.
Also just a extra note... i see some people saying that the letter code on thier coils is the old 'L' .... mine had 'G' !! take it as 'R' is the new one, that mine are the originals proberly.
