Ok I'm going to be buying a Leon very soon but which one? After white btcc 2007 tdi 140 but what's the difference between stylance and reference sport? Just trim or mechanical bits like handling? Or are the btcc ones the same as a standard Leon but just have a kit on them? Also which ones have this climate unit in them? Like the evidence displa. Any help would be great!
Cheers

The stylance model is the pre face lift model with a higher spec. The reference sport is is a reference (basic model) witth sports suspension, leather steerring wheel and sportier alloys and seats.

The sports suspension is very firm so you need to choose between comfort and looks.

The stylance has extras such as electric rear windows, climate, cruise control, 8 speakers etc

BTCC version is a ref sport with a kit on it. Declare the kit to the insurance people if you buy it. See another thread!!!

So the stylance has softer suspension and better spec compared to its harder more basic reference sport.

I drove the stylance and thought the ride wasn't too sloppy

So stylance is the better one to go for
Cheers

What about these computer climate unit things?

There is no better one. It depends on what you want from it. If you want a car that looks sporty get the ref sport with the kit on.

I had a sport a number of years ago. The sport was a stylance with a sports pack and I and my passengers hated the ride it was so hard.

I now have an SE which is the face lifted cars model whcih would compare to the stylance and I find the suspension much more plyable. I am getting a bit older now and my priorities have changed a bit.

What do you want to know about the climate control?

i'd get the stylance, more toys and probably better re-sale value. if the ride was too sloppy for you, you could always get some lowering springs, even SEAT sell them themselves, have a look in the accessories book.

The stylance I drove had the btcc kit on it and just assumed it was common but i don't know if it had the sportspack on it. I'm coming from an old school mini so used to s very hard ride lol

FR CR is a diesel, CR=Common Rail, its the latest diesel type engine SEAT are using, and only in the facelifted models, pre feacelift are PD Diesel Engines

If you can get a Stylance, and you want refinements, thats the one to get

Slightly softer ride, and all the gizmos

Ref Sport trim and equipment was a bit hit and miss, "most" had spotlights, a very few didn't (due to electronics board not being "high level")
Most had cruise, but again, a few didn't
Only get A/C and not climate
Nearly all had Stylance and Sportmodels had sport seats, a very few didn't, Ref Sport was a short lived special, and I think they differed a little
Ref Sport only has elec front windows, Stylance is electric all round
All have trip computer

FR is a sports model, 1 rung under the Cupra

in pre face lift, and in various guises, trim level was ROUGHLY

Essence/Reference - Base Model 1.4(85bhp) and 1.6(102bhp) Petrol, and 1.9TDi(105bhp)

Reference Sport, 1.6 (102bhp) and 2.0 (150bhp) Petrol and 2.0TDi (140bhp)

Stylance 1.6 (102bhp) and 2.0 Petrol (150bhp), 1.9TDi(105bhp) and 2.0TDI(140bhp) (later Stylances even had the 1.4 TSi petrol, at 125bhp)

Sport 2.0 Tfsi petrol(185bhp) and 2.0TDi (140bhp), may have been some very late 1.4TSi's, as the 2.0TFSi was discontinued in the "Sport" after the launch of the FR range

FR 2.0TFSi (200bhp) and 2.0TDi(170bhp)

Cupra - Top Spec 2.0TFSi (240bhp)

There were oddities, like the Emocion model, kinda somewhere around the gap between Reference and reference sport, and of course, the Ecomotive "clean" car, which in pre-facelift was low to mid spec

I may be a little out on accuracy, and people will very quickly correct me if I am, this is just a rough guide

FR engines are either the 170bhp diesel or 200/210 (depending on Pre-FL or FL) petrol (lifted from a golf GTI) the Cupra is 240 and the R is 265 (the R is just a bigger intercooler (FMIC) and a little remap). they dont do a 'stylance' etc in the FR, the big 3 are both the spec and the engine, altough the FR comes with as many toys as a cupra.

You will be looking at the PD FR for that year, i believe they are group 12 insurance, if that will swing it for you :D

Ok cool. I'm gonna stick to the 140pd for insurance reasons as I'm only 21 so the one to aim for is the stylance on trim level with the btcc kit. Is there any way to tell if one had had the sports pack fitted? Or is this commonly accompanied with the btcc bodykit? Ie if its git the bodykit its likely to have the sports pack suspension? The first autotrader web link was the one I drove and handled great but no mention of a sports pavk....

Sorry to be going on but I like to know what I'm spending my hard earnd on lol
