Tried to fit mine today - BOLTS are tighhhhtttt, Dammmnnnn!

Going to friends garage Monday evening to get her airborne and with the aid of a huge breaker bar have it done :)

I will get a pic

Be careful not to strip / snap your lower wishbone bolts in the process, big job to rectify if you do. Mine were solid and gave up trying! Didn't want snapped bolts to get sorted...

I will be careful - give them a good soak in WD40 then use big breaker bar to apply gentle but effective pressure.

They are big bolts - so hoping should be ok

Fitted my mk1 golf rear brace to my ibiza on the weekend

Anyone had any issues with clanging/knocking??

Ever little bump in the road and mines clanging and its really annoying to the point im going to take it out soon lol

Its done up as tight as the nuts will go so it cant be that

Its done up as tight as the nuts will go so it cant be that

mine is doing the very same,if you grab it and try move it about its solid as a rock,my mrs drove the car and i sat in the back and put my hand on the brace to see wtf this tingy,rattling sorta noise was comeing from and its this brace,you can feel it kinnda knock,so i tightend the thing uo dam hard and its still the same wondering if i have fitted it properly or left something out,,,its so doing my head in to the point where its comeing out soon [:@]

+1 mine makes a right racket.. It least it shows its working I suppose.. it would only make noises if its put under stress

I thinks its even got a few loose bits of weld in there too so it sounds like a pair of bloody maracas :p

+1 to the knocking/tinging noise coming from the rear brace.

I think I may cut a small circle of rubber and place this between the bottom of the brace and cup that it sits on/in to see if this cures it.

:think: thats a good idear


seems this is a common issue

Seems common problem then lol

Rubber washer idea is a good one, got to be worth a try

I have 2 spare grommets here used for dewipering so i might try those

Mines horrendous fo noise, but got some rubber gaskets to cut up and fit and see if that helps!

Tbh its no worse than the current sqweek im getting from my dash, which is driving me insane!

Lol i thought i might be the only one with the issue :lol:

Im fitting the rubber wshers tomorrow so ill update if it sorts it or not!

the thing is going to come out soon its driveing me up the wall:headhurt:

Completely forgot about it! I was gunna use some nylon washers insead of rubber though and a bit of grease for good measure
Ill let you test it out :D Its at the bottom of my to do list at the moment
