Strut braces

The rear brace, Is it best to place it over the top mount and use another nut to hold it in place so it sits in between 2 nuts or take the nut off from the top mount and replace it after the brace?

Also best to jack rear of car up before taking this nut off the rear top mount or is it fine without having to jack it up?

Cheers.

the front lower strut brace is easy to fit if you can crack the nuts off, seeing as they'll have probably never been undone you can kind of get the gist of why they feel like they are welded to the car. if you know someone with a pit then you should be okay :)

This is only the case if the captive nut breaks off, which has only happened to a vast minority of people.

I have had mine on and off a few times with no problems. They are a bit of a pain to get off in the first place but it is worth it ;)

Sorry to bump an old thread here but I have just fitted a rear upper strut brace (omp) and I'm not 100% sure how to attach it!

It's the type that bolts onto the bolt out the top of the shock, standard set up is from top of shock a gold disc, then a bit of foam and then nut, I have removed foam and disc and bolted the brace straight down onto the top mount!

Is this correct!??

Cheers!

I think I may have mislead you a little! I've only removed the gold disc, the foam I was on about is a bit of sound deadening in the rubber cap I think!

All I have done is take off the nut, then the disc, put brace ontop then nut back on (disc on bin!) sound better!!!?

So do you just take the nut off put the rear brace on and then the nut back on again? or do you have to remove the big gold washer?

I have Ta Technix Coilovers and noticed after fitting them with all the little washers etc back on i litteraly have hardly any thread left at the top of the struts, if i put a brace on there i dont think ill be able to get the nut back on the top??

Think the thread on the top of the strut was about half the length of the standard strut
