It shouldn't make any noise until you lift off boost from full throttle. Could be it's not closed fully, so it's leaking slightly and this is the noise you're hearing. How long have you had the 007 fitted? Did you get it brand new or second hand?

Yeah, IF they really meant it makes the funny noise coming off boost (i.e. when the valve opens) and when the valve is "reversed" then yes, it's normal but I answered the question as it was written - if it's making any funny noise when the throttle is open wide then something's wrong. Let's see what the OP says to clarify...

Thanks everyone so that noise is normal good good , I apologise if I didn't get my point across very clear it was late when I wrote it. It only makes that noise when I full throttle and ease off . Thanks for your help.

yep, its reversed and is supposed to sound like that, flip it round and you will lose the ching and just have the whoosh, its a marmite thing

Haha Split R baby!!! ;) I havent had any of these said dead spots - but I do take the blanking plate on track days, if I remember to put it on!!!
I really wasnt a fan of the "chirp" of my 007p and a bita time spent setting up the split r returns the same logs as the 007p anyways! :D
Never let it all out - good explanation above mate!

yeah i think my split r is going back on tonight, how did you set yours up? i read that you have it on the lowest setting and keep twisting til it stops chattering?
i just put mine on the standard 20 clicks and it seemed ok

Jimbob - yer thats right, but I started from the bottom and just kept cranking it up til it stopped - in works car park right outside the office was a winner, revving away to build pressure then more chatter - wind it up a click etc. Go for a drive, monitor on the LG, pull over - another click, full bost down the motorway why looking at the LG too, pull off AGAIN and another click................ you can see how my journey home took an hr, mix of motorway and country road driving while constantly monitoring boost pressure on the LG - touch wood, havent had limp mode, and logs are the same as the 007p. Mate had one on his TT and set it up similar then it went it to a "specialist" and they fiddled - he dumped boost half way thru the revs! GRRRR!

Patience is a virtue, but the reward is WELL worth it! :D

cool, ive had mine on for a month or so now and have had no probs, i did the chatter setup and all seemed good but i did seem to get an awfull lot of turbo chatter instead of whoosh, so i went to 16 clicks and its been mint

I want to put a hks on mine but don't really understand limp mode is this when your management light comes on on the car drives slow.

Yep - it's a safety feature, if the ECU senses something it doesn't like (such as atmospheric dump valves letting too much turbo pressure out of the system) it'll go into "limp" mode to prevent engine damage.

EDIT - I got it recently when my 007p valve popped out of the turbo intake pipe.
