The bearing is still fitted. I am asking how to test if it is worn please. What is the weave test

Drove along, safely, and weave left then right and see if there is a "humming" noise or one that disappears when you are weaving.

OK I'll do that now I know a safe spot

I tried it and I noticed that there is a 'whirring' sound like a winding noise when I turn the wheel abit. But it is very faint I have to say

Did you notice which side it was coming from?

Yup sounds like bearing to me
I always though a bearing would be a very obvious noise (it has been in other cars I've had) but in the Leon it was very very faint. Had to listen very carefully and was still difficult to tell which side it was.
