Yea, it's DSG. On traffic lights it's not annoying - I agree. But driving on the countryside roads or small city when you arrive at some crossroad and the traffic is heavy then you want the car to pull off with force to avoid side traffic. What happens with ss is that you stop, the engine shuts off, then you suddenly see a window to go and when you lift the foot out of brake pedal the engine starts but when you press the gas there's noticable lag. It's normal and understandable - the engine is still trying to start and you're just too fast trying to drive when the gearbox is trying to put the gear in.
I know that I can lift the brake a little bit earlier or move the steering wheel harder because it starts the engine also but then when you don't actually move the ss stops the engine and you have to repeat the above.
What's worse is that it often kills the engine while you're still moving. Like when you arrive at junction at slow speed but it's not stop junction so after checking side traffic you press the gas to move and baaah engine was killed because you were like moving 2-3 km/h and system decided now it's good to stop the motor because I don't know why exactly...
Can't relate with fuel consumption because with my daily drive to work I could maybe save like 0.2l per week so I don't really care.
Anyways - we gone a little bit offtopic and to get this back on track I found out on other forum that you can actually unplug one cable near the battery to disable ss. Well not only ss. It also disables battery management module J367 and you will loose information about charge, discharge etc. Battery will still charge and sometimes you will get a warning on dashboard about ss but nothing will happen and after next start it will be gone so nothing to worry about.
Perhaps
@East Yorkshire Retrofits could explain this a little bit better than me coz I'm not technical.
