Your fans are electric, powers steering belt by chance?

If the tension is ok, us either candle wax (seriously) or a light spray with a chain lube.

yep would imagine it to be wet, especially with this weather, it wasnt squeeling at the meet but that was dry so id say wet,,, if your not intending on putting the undertray back on then anything that displacess water should do it, wax, chalk or probs the easiest way WD40, every now and again a quick spray should stop it

Presumably its the alternator belt that's squealing and if its squealing it then it must be slipping - I'd get the tension checked.

I don't get the WD40 thing - surely it will just slip even more

wd40 displaces water so would stop water "sticking" as it were to the belt, obviously whilst the wd40's wet it wont work but after dry it should work like he has said, my personal method is chalk

I'd still say you need to get the belt tension checked and possibly even replace it now you've had WD40 on it. Most rubbers degrade/breakdown when they come into contact with oils.
WD40 is a lubricant and will reduce the friction on the belt, this may reduce/stop is squealing but you're treating the symptom and not the cause IMO

^^^ but seen as the belt is only 6 months old i wouldnt but it down to a worn belt, and if the problem was that the belt was wet due to him not having an undertray fitted wd40 would have displaced the water thus fixing the problem,,, i have never heard of oils etc breaking down rubbers, theres oil all over the roads and your tyres dont just disintergrate
