I've just refitted my spare alloy into the boot compartment but having a few problems. Firstly the bolt that goes through the boot floor doesnt quite line up with the alloy bolt hole so I can't get the retaining nut on. Second does the jack just sit in the spare wheel in its cover because its gonna rattler around surely??
The wheel is fitted upside down i.e the back on the alloy is facing up, is this correct??

The reason I'm asking all this is that the car was fitted with a false floor (previous owner was a stereo head) which i've removed as it took up too much boot space.

The wheel should be face up, but due to the size of the alloy, compared to the standard steel wheel may not alloy it to fit straight in there.

With my wheel brace i've got a rubber retaining strap to hold all the contents of the jack together, and then another with hooks to hold the jack to the previous steel wheel.

You could get a spare wheel holder from demon tweeks, which you secure to the boot floor.

cheers I'll take a look, ive got one rubber retaining strap but I just assumed that was used to stop the jack coming out of its holder, I'll see if I can hook it round something to stop it banging around

Hi JKing,

i've a cupra r too, the spare wheel sits upside down, then i fed the rubber retaining strip through the centre of the wheel and brought it back up through a spoke. then i placed the jack to the right of the wheel and then brought the two ends of the rubber strip together around the jack to hold it firmly in place. hope this makes any sence.
