it only works on manual and it delays timing when you need to change gear, it allows you to change gear when the power is wound open which prevent turbo spooling down

build a switch into the diagnostic port cover?

I have seen it with my own 4 eyes ;)

It must surely have been a > stage 2 cupra then, and you really can't compare that to a standard VXR. either that, or a really crap driver in the VXR! :)

Standard VXR v standard cupra = no contest - VXR would wipe the floor.
Stage 2 VXR v Stage 2 Cupra = I'm not sure of power levels achievable from the VXR but I'd guess the results would be simlar to the above! :)

I was about to post something similar than realised we were talking about insignia VXRs. Can't compare the two cars as the vauxhall is a 2.8 V6...

lol - I thought you might have been thinking that when you said they were the same power...
321bhp/435nm torque 2.8 v6 and 4wd... It's a bloody quick car!!! :D

stage 2 + cupra against an unknown insignia VXR but it was sooo funny. the guys face was a picture

Again though, you're using a car which is already bloody quick which has been modded to stage 2 against a probably stock car. Get that VXR at stage 2 and it would be goodnight cupra unfortunately lol! :)

yeah sounds fair enough, but given the weight of the insignia i think thats what made it lose out the way it did... nice motor though, and he had a nice bit of stuff as a passenger

Might not be any use for you, but i installed a small switch for the power to my reversing camera. Its close to the fuse box to wire up too, and the cover pops off fairly easilly. (Well a fair bit of force to pull out the lighting controll knob).

looks very neat! I'm pretty sure if you push the knob in and twist it left it operates the little clips retaining the light switch assembly ;)

My dad will still be tougher than their dads though ;)

Realistically, the problem for the Insignia is that its gonna weigh quite a lot more than a Cupra. Regardless of how much more torque it will have, at 1810kg, it weighs 1/3 more than the Cupra.

Tuned vs tuned therefore, power to weight will be

Cupra - 360bhp @ 1370kg = 262bhp per tonne
VXR - 340bhp @ 1810kg = 187bhp per tonne

Give the VXR a big turbo and 400bhp and it becomes 220bhp per tonne, still a long way behind. Take 200kg from it at 400bhp and its still behind at 248bhp per tonne. And remember its gonna have less flywheel power transmitted to the road thanks to its 4 wheel drive :p

The only things going in the Vauxhalls favour is the 4 wheel drive traction, higher torque and probable top speed if it was unlimited. The main thing going against the Vauxhall is that the only thing faster than its performance is its depreciation ;). Dont fancy the road tax or fuel ecomony of one either, or the Vauxhall / VXR badge for that matter.

Insignia VXR Stats
0-60mph: 5.6 seconds
Top speed: 155mph
Combined economy: 24.7mpg
Emissions: 268g/km
Kerb weight: 1810kg

Haha, i knew the clips were spring loaded once i had removed it. I just couldn't figure it out while it was in the dash. Cheers for the tip though!
