phil did u sort the timing issue after? I have taken out my crankshaft sensor and cleaned that but haven't tried another one. Camshaft sensor is fine. Still haven't checked timing yet though. Im doing that tonight. Have read on vwvortex that its possible for timing belt to slip!

Couple of things rhys...

Your timing was spot on when i checked it, for it to slip it would tend to go completely and smash your valves to bits.

Have you taken the cams out?

Does the code still come up since you've cleaned the sensors?

If your doing the timing, the crank mark might not line up on the first turn of the cam pulley, if it doesnt, rotate the cam pulley again 360 degrees and see where the mark lines up again. Apparently its in sync every two turns.

Havent sorted mine yet, but we done jonzy's as his was out one tooth(cam gear).

Mine needs to come off completely as its out half a tooth(cam gear)(one tooth crank gear) so the auxiliary belt etc.. has to come off and we didnt have enough time to do it.

all sensors have been cleaned. I clear the code and it doesn't come back straight away. Only once the car is warm. And then even when i clear it and re check for codes its there. When placing my cam cover back on the other day i heard a little crack like plastic breaking. Removed the cover and couldn't find anything broken or cracked any where. Im thinking if some plastic had snapped and landed on belt this could of caused some problem but it would of been a really really small piece of plastic. Think i need to try someones crankshaft sensor just to rule that out.

thats next phil. I only managed to have a quick look so planning on doing that tomorrow. Then im going to actually sort it out on thursday. I think because its so big the gap that it will be out on the second turn. But i will check mate.
Rhys i am on my way back now in a min. Have to pick up the oil from the garage as dan is moaning about it. And u mean going out in the cars or ur car?

the brush is very soft, and is meant for cleaning cars, but i'd never take it anywhere near my seat, let alone either of those!
