That looks mint Dave !!, i think it's still a little beyond me to do (we'll, fear of drilling into the petrol tank or something daft like that!), i'll have to pluck up the courage when the weather gets a bit warmer !

Cheers !

its not finished yet lol i need to secure it and get some green neons in there haha i am going to do a build for it as i have a few 6x9s left over that i want to put in, in my previous car i removed the back seat and had 2 15" subs in there 8, 6x9s all powered by 5 amps, it was loud haha, that was back in the day, im going to be a bit more reserved with this one haha, will get some better pictures of where the wires go etc when its warmer like i said,

i will give you one tip however, dont go for a 15" sub they are too big, you will be better of with a 12" in this size car, i only used the 15" due to it being free XD

in regards to the drilling the hole throught the fire wall is behind the glove box just a little bit lower, there is pleanty of space there and the hole for the earth wont be bad, i did mine on the left hand side of the car as far back as possible, nothing to damage there =]

also like to add, im not sure if i have voided part of my warrenty the way i have wired my sub up so just as a warning if you want to keep your warrenty 100% intact (im too scared to take mine in and ask them, hopefully if there is a problem they may not notice the huge speaker in my boot haha)

a simpler way for the earth is to use the seatbelt fasten point. albeit a bit of a pain when using 4awg cable, but i wanted to do things properly. will get some pics for you soon andy!

i have yet to put a hole in my firewall......didnt want to put a hole in her! so i just used the hole that the bonnet release goes through.

p.s if anyone decides to do this, dont blame me if it goes wrong!

yes good point we cant be responsible for explosions XD

i might put my earth to the seatbelt point, never thought of that haha

the hole i drilled is only small lol, you can hardly see it, and i thinks its quite a proffesional job if i do say so my self

Yeah, it's pretty nasty over here, mainly the back roads / streets. Main roads seem fine if you're careful. Going to and from work (about 20 miles there and 20 back), i kept to around 45 mph and the amount of IDIOTS driving right up to the back bumper and overtaking defies common sense !. Wandering into slushy lanes to overtake is just suicide in conditions like these !.

I'm a bit of a boy racer myself, but in snow/ice i change my driving style to compensate, it's amazing how many others don't !

Best Regards,
Andy

yeah i wouldnt say im a boy racer, because of the car i drive, but i do get tempted sometimes to open it up haha, icy roads max 20 mph though its quite scary the disregard other road users have

Yeah that's sensible, when i say i'm a boy racer i don't mean i'm a menace to other road users ;), just have a tendency to use the throttle a bit more than me dad lol !.

That's the one thing i'd say about having the 1.6 sport, it does seem to have a little nippy engine in it (nowhere near as powerful as my Leon Cupra had, but better mpg !!).

I'm a bit more cautious now than a year ago because i've had 2 (non weather related) accidents in the past year (Both not my fault i have to add !), but after driving 20 years and never having an accident, then having 2 accidents in 10 months kinda moulds your driving anyway !!.

My Ibiza is the result of my first accident back in Dec 08 (when my Cupra got written off), then my beloved Ibiza had a bump by some idiot in Oct this year, only got it back last month and loving it !

Andy

Andy, i was thinking of getting a 12" sub from halfords with the amp and all. To fit the amp, did you have to remove the facia and headunit on the radio? if so what was the difficulty level?

I haven't fitted an amp yet, but i have taken the radio out. It's simple. The fascia comes off with light pressure, something like a plastic fork dug in behind the outer fascia will do, then just ease it off around the whole aperture, it just clicks off. Just don't be aggressive or in a rush and you'll be fine !

To get the actual radio out you'll need a torx type screw, i think i used a size 20 ???. They are easy to come by, i got mine ages ago in the Pound Shop !. They look like this:

I'd say even for a novice it's really easy to do !

Best Regards,
Andy
