Hi all
New member here.
Thinking of upgrading my current car (mondeo 2.0tdi power shift) for a smaller estate car.
Original idea was for wife to px her 207cc (fun car) for a clioRS (1.6T) for the fun car and I have a seat leon 1.6tdi ( which I would get remapped).

Circumstances have changed a little meaning we will probably keep the 207cc and rather than get a 1.6tdi Leon we will get a sportier one.
our budget is mak £15k has to be DSG
Logical 1st choice is the 1.8FR
But then i got to thinking of the 20.tdi ( has to be ulez friendly) and then thought as we live in kent and get generally shitty weather would the xperience be worth the extra dosh.
Year ago I have an octavia 1.8t 4x4 (52 reg) and was really impressed by the handling , grip etc. So I am leaning towards the xperience.

But when it comes to remapping ( as I want 200+) what is the best option?
I have read the limitation is with the DSG box with regards to torque. I have also read that its easier to remap diesels for power rather than petrol

all that aside are there any specific limitations on the xperience that will give it less power/performance than the 20.tdi /1.8 petrol

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
Like most it’s down to choice depending on miles done, short journeys etc. Early diesels would need to regen themselves so you would take them out for a good 1/2 hour blast to clear. I had a 1.8 Fr and it was very good, 34 to 38mpg and was quite quick. Both the diesel and petrol can be remapped easily. Xperience, Fr have good spec and again it’s down to personal choice. DSG will be dry sump, 6 speed but will handle 200bhp.

Thanks for the reply
I thought it was easier to remap diesels than petrols?
I also thought that the 2.0tdi couldnt go above 220 in stock form and that the torque needed to be limited in the dsg box
