Myself and a friend on the strip at Shakespeare County Raceway His car is a 306 GTi-6:

In my defence, his car is stripped and hes done the whole drag thing before!

Quite pleased with how i got seen as though its my first time on a strip!

My quickest time was 16.033secs at 89.61mph.

Im not too sure if this is a respectable time or not.

Any ideas?

Which engine you have 2.0 16v or 8v or 1.8 16v?

I had a race with a 306 gti (i've got the 1.8 16v) and we were pretty much dead level although I was pulling away slightly until the higher gears where he started to catch up. But his 306 definatly wasn't stripped which does help a hell of a lot.

Nice one on going on the strip though!Haven't been to one yet but had plenty of practice on my err...private road :p

It's a 16v mate.

Sorry dude but just because you were faster that the 306 on a 'private road', doesn't make me think you would be quicker down a quarter mile. Proper drag strips are kitted out with the proper timming equipment and the strip itself isn't your average tarmaced road.

Also, are you sure it was a GTi-6 you were racing!!!?

Civic Type R's were getting high 15's!

Nah not yet,on my list of things to get done.

Only got a full stainless exhaust system and ram air induction so doubt it would be running much more power

sposed to be 130bhp as standard but after 11 years I'm guessing it's lost 1 or 2 so with my mods should be back up to standard lol or hopefully just above.

Well I'm hoping to come to one of the meets/rolling road days sometime, just wanting my car to be almost finished before I do :)

Lol I can understand your skepticism as everyone has different experiences, driver ability, car performance etc.

The gti-6 is only 8.5 to 60 so roughly the same spec as my car anyways, the fact your mates one is stripped out is gonna help a hell of a lot.

Sorry to keep correcting you dude but i have a friend who has had more GTi-6 than i have had hot dinners in my 21 years of existance.

Right here goes, Peugeot said the GTi-6 was 8.5 to 60 to make the insurance cheaper (even though its still group 17!). In reality, GTi-6 are quite capable of achieving 60mph in the low 7's!

Also, stripping a car out can't shave a 0-60 time by a whole second!

Ok thats fair enough, not really clued up on the gti-6,just saw the badge and looked it up on parkers :p.Although it says insurance group 15 on there...

Simplest explanation then is that the dude i was racing was an absolute tool lol,or had a re-badged Peugeot?
