Since I got so disappointed over the "subwoofer" (more like the computer speaker in the trunk) in the Seat sound system kit (MY16, don't know if there are variants), I was wondering if anyone knows the specs of the amplifier? Ofcourse it's not that impressive but perhaps with a decent element in a proper box it could still improve enough?

Not that I had the option with a second-hand car, but I was very satisfied with the standard sound system, never got the chance to hear the dedicated subwoofer myself.

Major Tom you sure yours is set up correctly?

The subwoofer in my car rattles the windows if I turn it up enough.

Thanks, this was the info I was looking for! 35 fake-watts ain't that much unfortunately but with speaker with better efficiency and not residing under the trunk floor it might do. I don't have the strength to make me install a power cable through the car for an external amp so that's why I wanna use the Seat amp. But 2 ohm you say? Does it say that on the original speaker?

I'd really like to know how much improvement the Kicker mod was, if it's worth doing. At least you get to keep all the trunk space.

I've had some high end standard sound systems (Harmon Kardon, B&O, Alpine) and ran various sub / amp / speaker installs and I've got to say I'm very impressed with the SEAT Sound, the bass is clean, punchy and crisp and is certainly a big improvement over the standard equipment which itself is also good. Yeah sure more bass can be had but hey it's not like the boot is jam packed with a big amp and huge box housing x2 1000w subs is it? I think it's pretty awesome - for what it is....

I like the seat sound, not as good as the HK set up in my old F10 BMW, but not bad... just not loud enough, seems to clip the volume back quite a bit

This is my issue with SSS, the auto correct on volume. Some tracks really suffer from auto-correct volume and it ruins the experience. Bit disappointed really.

Yes I'd like to know if there is anything in VCDS which can take the volume limit off, especially when bassey bits come on in songs!

The US folks at golfmk7.com are changing their subs to another oem from audi I think. Might be worth to investigate further.

The stock amp, will a Golf mk7 Dynaudio fit? Where does the OEM amp sit?

I have sat in 8V S3 with B&O system, does not sound any better or more powerfull than 5F SS.
So, before you go and get different Sub, you better be sure it really is different, not just a different part number and brand.

Off topic but i also had a new Superb Combi with Canton Sound system and after that i am VERY happy with the SS on Leon.

Glad to hear some real world comparison and favourable comments towards ss :) I'm still listening to mp3's in the Leon with ss and suspect this may be contributing to my low volume concerns.

you HAVE set up the equaliser in the sub-menu haven't yoy? Dumb question but most people feel that the SS system is pretty good, when you turn on the sub-woofer in the menu...which I didn't at first.

Turn it on? Do you just mean set it at your desired level in the sound menu or is there an actual on/off setting as well?

Yep you need VCDS (Or other VAG coding device.) to do it. I cant find the link, but I've definitely seen people do it on-line.
I have VCDS but could not find where to do it.
I could change boot logo on screen. It is done in information elect. address 5f ling coding byte 18. But none of the options enabled seat sound logo. I appreciate if somebody can tell me place of seat sound coding.
