fidge: the pipes tht people put on there car are bigger in size yes lets say 2mm bore size it standard and then you fit a full system de-cat etc etec at 3mm bore size this allows more flow this is measured by people who make exhaust so it dosnt effect the performance diversely, now if u put on a 6mm bore size in ur car that is not goin to help as it will allow to much pressure to be relaeased in one go thus u get bad back pressure, now if u had a big turbo conversion then the tunners might say right for this to work properly and perform to its best id go for a 4-5mm bore size exhaust take a lomng time to make wen the first being done on the car either performance or stock and turbo ones are even more specific due to turbos using exhaust gases thru the turbo manifold, u see any old person could whack on a pipe and moddife the pipe to fit but it will not help flow the car smoothly thts why u shouldn' t really just whack a boack box on it will do sod all for any sort of performance an there normally universal so think bout it a 1.1 fezza can use it and so can a 1.8turbo just dosnt work. there is more science involved but thts the basics

Hi smartyFr, I have got the race supersprint cat back system and just has the straight pipe going upto the cat.
I am really pleased with the sound and it is not too intrusive, I got mine through a contact of philW on here but no longer have his details but if he reads this he might put you in contact with him.
I hope you are happy which ever way you go, thanks

Here mine, you can hear the DV and exhaust from a year ago at Knockhill, which sound pretty cool:

Exhaust is Milltek 3" DP with 100-cell CAT mated to custom rear half. I now have the Supersprint race system, single silencer and it's quieter than the one in my clip, that old exhaust was quite loud and boomy inside the car, cool outside though!

??? Sorry mate but that makes no sense to me! I've always been told that back pressure is not so important on turbo cars!

Yup.
Same here matey....
....just as BOV's actually make spool up times longer as it has to pressurise all over again after all the air is released hence increased lag.

Less back pressure is a good thing if you get the balance right - less pressure allows the turbo to spin more freely, I have much better power from a 3" DP, 100-cell CAT and single silencer 2.5" exhaust than I ever would from a stock exhaust, which is very restrictive.

There is a balance between just enough back pressure and too little, too little and you lose low-end torque and possibly cause the turbo to over-spool.

One of the first things most Scooby and EVO owners do is to fit a larger bore, de-catted exhaust and gain something like 20+bhp from it.

yes robdon tht is correct but thts wat i was tryin to say u can t go stick a 6" bore straight thru exhaust on ya car or it will effect performance diversly, thts why universal bag boxes r sh1te i had a 3.5" full system to 3" back box on my rs and it was great

Of course aftermarket is going to be better... but standard is what... 2" pipe? on a standard LC... going to 3" straight through with no middle box is not going to help, but hinder. 2.5" is where i am at, and intend to stay, serving me well so far... 3" downpipe and 100/200 cell sports cat will aid the cause too at some point :)
