Seat Ateca, 1.6L TDI dpf and coolant loss

Hi All,

I have a Seat Ateca which has a dpf warning light come up. I decided to take it for a long drive to clear it. 15 mins into the journey, I had an engine overheating message, stopped checked the engine was okay with no heat whatsoever. Switched it off and on again and the temp gauage was normal and the warning message was gone. Checked coolant level and all looked normal.

Carried on driving, the enginee overheating message came up again and the temp gauge was going full then dropped to the lowest setting. After that, the dpf warning light went off. Within 10 mins I had a message saying check coolant level. Stopped and the coolant tank was empty with coolant sprayed all over the engine cover and surrounding area, topped it up and switched the car on and the put the radiator to max heat. As the car warmed up it sucked up all the coolant with no signs of a leak. I put more coolant and drove home for another hour and had no issues and the coolant tank is at normal level with no issues since.

Anyone has any idea what could of caused this?
Was it the dpf regen causing an engine overheating or was it an airlock in the coolant system?

Thanks,
Yous
